If Dak gets extended in the next week or two and opens up about ~20M or so in space I think we're actually going to make a bit of a splash with a WR.

That "splash" may very well be Beckham, but I could easily see it being Cooks or Hopkins as well.

That's not a splash but signing him would be an interesting and creative solution to replacing Schultz. Thielen is basically an undersized slot TE at this point given where he wins and how reliable he is over the middle in the short to intermediate.

He could be our top pseudo-receiving TE while Ferguson and Hendershot handle the more traditional TE duties/alignments, to include blocking obviously.

Yeah the other problem is everyone we are talking about is 30+. Thielen is what 32? Cooks is the youngest option at 29 years old. I just don't think there are any splash free agent WR's. The guys you could trade for are near the end of their careers too.

We need to really focus on drafting a guy regardless.

That’s what Capboy’s FA budget gets you. Older players are Dak/Zeke friendly.

With the free agent market at WR this year you're not going to get much anyway. You could pay top dollar and the names still aren't great. I always liked Chark though for whatever reason.

I don't tag him anymore. I try to sneak them in now. Kind of like the boards Easter eggs.

I mean it was originally a reply directly to me. That produces a notification so I'm pretty much going to see it regardless. :lol

Hopkins or Evans would be the dream, but I wouldn't give up too much for either because of their ages and the fact that you have to pay them quite a bit of money. That deflates their values, especially since the selling team is trying to clear their salaries. That alone is already giving the selling team value. And because we don't have a desperate need for a true number 1.

All we really need is a reliable, competent number two. We could get that for half of what we'd pay these guys (or even less).

The cost benefit of giving up a second and also paying in the upper teens in salary for Hopkins to be our number 2 receiver isn't really there. If we could get him for like a fourth rounder though? That changes things.

This is where I am at. If they were free agents it would be a different ball game. But Ceedee is a year away from a massive raise. Gallup is eating up a chunk of change. What we really need is a young up and coming WR to pair with Lamb who could be cheap for the next 4 years.

With an older guy I don't know that the Cowboys will want to pay Lamb 18 mil a year from now, Gallup 11 mil and then another WR 15+ mil. Which means that you're really only having this Corp for 1 year. Now maybe Gallup gets cut after this season. But you'd still be paying your 1 and 2 receivers a lot of money.

I'm good with a 1 year rental but I'm not giving up a premium pick to do it.

You need to focus on the guys on the roster (Fehoko and Tolbert) or draft a guy. That’s the only young and cheap option . I’m the only one who thinks that Turpin hasn’t been utilized nor given an opportunity to show what he can do on offense.

Yeah, I'm not putting much faith in those two guys on the roster. If Tolbert had given us even a glimpse last year that he could do something it would be different. Maybe he figures this shit out but I wouldn't bank on it. He should have at least been showing those signs by the end of last year.

Shit same for Simi. Going into his third year he has a grand total of 3 catches. And it's not like these two were stuck behind Amari Cooper caliber receivers last year. They were stuck behind Noah Brown and a washed up veteran Hilton. Not very promising.

Simi got dinged after having a good TC as a second year dude. He should compete for 4th/3rd spot or GTFO.
