Gary Myers hasn't been relevant in decades. Probably since we were winning super bowls. You'll have to excuse me if his opinion doesn't mean shit to me.
Now he's down to leveraging Cowboys PR for the Giants benefit. Has been.

I think it's a positive development that Moore is being replaced and I'm happy about that.

That said, I don't think it's a good day for Dallas when Philly makes the Super Bowl on that day.

I'd take another year of Moore over Philly making the super bowl. It's great to move on from Moore and all but it doesn't guarantee anything for us and it's still possible we take a step backwards next season.

Meanwhile Philly is in the Super Bowl and nothing can change that now.
I don't give one damn about Philly. I know you hate them with a passion, and I do too, but I care more about our team. Moore being gone helps our odds of beating Philly next year. That's what I care about. Fuck Philly.

I'm not sure that it does. I'm glad they moved on, but this isn't Garrett that we just got rid of. We'll see.

Philly winning is a big deal to me. Obviously I care more about us winning, but we didn't play yesterday. Maybe getting rid of Moore helps that, and we should be happy about that, but given that we still have a long way to go with who we replace him with and upgrading our personnel, nothing is guaranteed. So getting rid of Moore only goes so far.

I wouldn't be surprised if Moore looks a lot better with an elite arm talent at QB.
It will be interesting to see if his play calling works better with Herbert, Ekeler, and their receivers.

It has to start somewhere, my friend. And, the move on Moore is really atypical of the Joneses. They normally hang onto their pets for dear life (see: Garrett), but this time they actually did the right thing and got it right for once. They let go of a part of the family picture after just a blink in a season where our offense (for the most part) was top 5 in the league. That is saying something, and should be celebrated.

The future is not guaranteed, but this is a huge step in the right direction.

No QB, even Mahomes, is going to be successful when their OC runs 4 wide 6 yard curls on 3rd and 8. None.

We saw Moore's gameplan with a full stable of good to very good receivers (last year) and we saw how that turned out.

I don’t see it working out any different but I would take Herbert over Dak and Ekeler is light years ahead of Zeke
The problem is this, as Sturm perfectly lays out:

The Moore offense was very good for giant stretches. He was great at play design, but I often said that he had many well-designed plays in an often poorly-designed mosaic. They did not fit together in concert, nor did they ever lean into strengths. Play-action rate? Roughly league average. Motion? Slightly below league average. RPOs? Perfectly league average. Boots and rollouts? League average again. Favorite routes? Stops, comebacks and curls. In other words, routes that never seem to accompany yards after catch.
Even with Herbert being better than Dak and Ekeler being better than Zeke, I don't see Moore raising their level of play. He's shown an inability to fully lean into the strengths of his personnel. He seems to prefer being a jack of all trades, but a master of none.

And as the last sentence points out, it'll be tough for the Chargers playmakers to generate big plays if Moore insists on relying heavily on routes that aren't conducive for yards after the catch.

See the first post of mine that you quoted. I said “I don’t see it working out.” I’m definitely not defending KM. I agree he was a huge part of the issue.

Not to defend schottenheimer's punk kid, but he didn't exactly have elite talent at those other spots (we might not either, to be fair), and here he would have McCarthy basically running the offense anyway so it's not like they'd be entrusting him to sink or swim on his own.

Schottenheimer wouldn't be my choice but this is probably going to come down to the job that McCarthy does regardless of who the coordinator is.

Remind me again what an OC that doesn't call plays actually does.

Kind of a weird question but, game plans, runs meetings and film sessions, advanced scouting on the next opponent, self scouting, runs offensive drills in practice... there's actually quite a bit.
