That's kinda what the coaches and practice are for, no?
Yeah, but have they come out and said he is still his old self? I haven't seen it. Hence why I said, I'm not sure we know that.

The rub is that once he gets put back at LT and is not yet himself, then what? You bench him and go right back?

Continuity is a big deal on an OL. I just hope we are prepared to make difficult decisions that could impact a lot of things.

And you know if they put him in, barring injury, they are not benching him. So, he could look terrible and Jerry won't sit him back down. Everyone knows this is true.

Tyron Smith might tear his bicep putting his pads on. I’m not worried about him coming back and making the line worse. I don’t think he’ll even play long enough for anyone to notice.

There is the chance he is normal, which means a game like the 49ers last year. Is that better than Tyler Smith?
Too much unknown. I leave Tyron at swing.

And it's not just Tyron being terrible -- I mean, no, he's not going to be Chaz Green -- it's that even if he's fine, you're not messing with one position, but two. The timing on combo blocks and everything else won't just be different at LT and LG, it'll be different at LG and C too.

Not only that game, but he’s done a lot more holding in recent past and has been part of the penalty problem.

So, the identity of this team on offense right now is a run-first, bully, ball control offense.
Tyler Smith has shown to be a dominant run blocker at LT, and it's no sure thing he'd be as dominant going against DTs & NTs compared to DEs and OLBs. Me, I don't think I'd move anyone. Plus, like mentioned before, continuity is huge with the OL.

This is a myth.

Tyron had 7 penalties accepted against him last season.

He's only had 3 seasons better than that in his entire career, and for his career he actually averages exactly 7 penalties a season.

People love the penalties myth. Like how Jason Witten was good for a few false starts every game. Dude had a high of 7 in a season once. Once.

Is that too many? Sure. But hearing the constant whining of it every game he played for the rest of his career was tiresome. They made it sound like he was a false start machine his entire career.
