But how many of those other teams haven't made so much as a conference championship in 27 years?
Fair enough, I'm not saying I trust them to do that either. But I don't hold anything from 25 years ago, or even 5 or 10 years ago, against this team. Different players, different coaches and all that.

I'm not just doing a bit, and McCarthy isn't Shula or Landry or Belichick, but I honestly believe if McCarthy or any good, solid NFL coach had been here instead of that utter poser fraud Garrett, we've had made it by now.

I don't get the "can't trust them" thinking. How many teams can be trusted to win every week? Those are rare as hens teeth. I mean, we knew this team wasn't the 93 Cowboys. Every team is up and down to some degree and upsets happen every week, but that's why you play 16-17 games.

I've always thought the key was piling up enough wins to make the playoffs consistently and eventually the breaks will go your way. Like how Jack Nicklaus has more majors than anyone, but he finished 2nd and 3rd more than anyone too. The problem with this team is we always follow a good year with a crappy year. This will be the first time in forever that doesn't happen.*

*If @Texas Ace feels like it.
It's a matter of personal preference. Doesn't mean any way is better or worse. I don't trust them because they haven't given me a reason to trust them when the time comes for 25 years. I still watch and root for them knowing full well that they are going to let me down.

Zeke with 15 carries and 2.8 ypc. The team goes where Zeke goes! Thankfully Pollard also had 15 carries for over 5 yards a pop and a bunch of receiving yards too.

Zeke was great in 1 yard situations though, that's where he is still really useful. I appreciated today how we weren't afraid to run on third downs. Even if it was like 3rd and 3. The confidence in the run game helps so much.
Zeke is a tremendous compliment to Pollard and running him will wear down defenses and also prevent Pollard from getting too winded. No longer can we act like Zeke's the #1 though. Pollard is the man and needs to get 80+ percent of touches in the playoffs.

The players change, the coaches change but the results don't. There is only one constant. And yes I blame Garrett but this started before Garrett and hasn't changed yet since. Fingers crossed McCarthy can change it this year.

Zeke has turned into our Mike Alstott.

This is not Jason Garrett or Wade Phillips team.

Sam Williams. That something something is a little rage. A little pride. A little talent. That hallowed #54 has been let down far too much in the last 20 years. Bring it back, Sam.
I think he is going to be a fun one to watch. He looks really good right now and his snaps are pretty limited because of our depth. It's nice to think that we could have a guy with a long future here with that skill set.

Honestly I would have felt much better about the team. GB sucks ass, and Dallas should have gone in there and hung 40 on them, too.
It’s the consistency thing that bothers me, mostly from an offense standpoint.
We scored more points against them than anybody has all year, the offense is generally more of a concern for me but the defense lost that game, plain and simple.

My opinion wouldn't be too much different if we had won that game though. After yesterday's performance I think we're one of the best teams in the NFC, arguably the best, but the NFL is unpredictable and you can't trust this team to deliver in the biggest moments so it's hard to have confidence. Beating Green Bay wouldn't really have given me much more confidence.

The only difference would be that if we had won I think we'd have at least a 60% shot at HFA whereas now it's probably around 30%.

I know but what about last year? Saw a team that was unprepared and gives me no reason to give them the benefit of the doubt to change how I (and others) view the team.

Just the glass half empty/full debate for sure.

Takes time to change a deeply embedded culture. That stank was strong.

Yeah, IMO that was basically year one with McCarthy considering the massive injuries and covid mess of 2020. And it was literally year one with Quinn (and Micah).

If they go a couple more years and can't do anything, fine, but a one year sample size is too small to judge anything yet.

The good thing is that if Jerry have Garrett that long of a leash hopefully fat Mike gets a chance to turn it around.
