They do make a difference. But I've seen plenty of third downs with Zeke, I've seen plenty of outside runs with Zeke. The Cowboys aren't using Zeke only as a battering ram. They are literally using him for the whole playbook. He just isn't good at most of that stuff anymore.

Conversely Pollard gets inside runs and all of that too. Sure he doesn't get the short yardage carries. But he also doesn't get many of the third and long carries either (Those tend to go to Zeke because I'm assuming they want to make the defense think Zeke is in there for pass protection).

The type of carries do matter though, you can't just look at YPC and say one guy needs to play all the snaps over the other. That's way too simplistic and it's way more intricate than that.

This one is particularly interesting because White and Johnson shared the backfield together as well and Chris Johnson was the star and White's career ended shortly after. I'm sure there is a lot of transference going on here.

Good points and as Sturm pointed out in this week's Decoding Kellen Moore article, the real difference between the two is Pollard has the shiftiness to make guys miss in the box. Which is often the difference between only gaining 7 yards on a run vs breaking it for 20+ yards.

Is there a good/solid target date out there for James Washington's return? I did a quick search and didn't really see anything.

The original timeline set on August 1st was 6-10 weeks. We're over the 12-week mark now.

I dunno, but I find myself actually having some hope he might contribute when he comes back.

I hope so but I don't think he was having a great camp before he got hurt either. But hell who knows.

He wasn't, but wasn't that like the second day of camp after being hurt in OTAs? I know he's not great but I am hoping he can contribute something just as a solid vet. I was even looking at his combine stats compared to all our other guys.

Really though, it's good he was out there catching pregame passes from Dak even the week before Dak came back. Maybe they can develop a little chemistry.

I don't disagree with him. If we overpaid for someone it would have been dumb and wouldn't have been worth it.

Yeah I agree with his statement but there is also some proactively when it comes to making trades. You can't just sit back and hope they come to you. I just don't know if we are proactive.

I think what he's saying is that the price goes up when you go to a team trying to trade for one of their players as opposed to them coming to you. I'm sure he's right.

I don't think that's necessarily true. But if you wait for others to come to you, you'll miss out on a lot of opportunities. And the calls Dallas does get are probably teams thinking that they have found a sucker.

You don't get a better offer when someone comes to your house trying to sell a vacuum as opposed to going to a store to buy a vacuum you like.
