I hope they give Hurts the MVP on the back of his 18 passing TD's and 16 rushing TD's as the Eagles goal-line back. Make them give him a 5 year, $240 million extension and watch that roster crumble (and Hurts also) as the real reason for their success (the OL and defense) deteriorates and the 150-200 carries/year start to pile up.

From what MM said, I wonder if Peters will start Sunday. They asked him who would play LG and he said he didn't want to reveal that, but then said Peters was pretty much over his medical problem and yesterday he looked the best he has since he got here.

Jerry seems like he might be warming up to ol' Mike a little bit.

We scored 92 points on them in two games one the way to decisively winning the division last year.

I get it ... they added AJ Brown and we lost Amari Cooper.

But 92 fucking points is 92 fucking points

For me, I just don't think Jalen Hurts is a good QB and I'm shocked at how many pundits are making his play this year out to be something way better than it actually is.

He's thrown 4 TDs to 2 INTs.

4 touchdowns in 5 games, and we're talking MVP?

Seriously?!

GTFO.

And you should see the butt-hurt looks on some media people's faces when someone has the stones to mention this very thing.

If we had Dak, sure, but we aren't beating them on the road with Cooper Rush.

With Dak I think we're at least equal to them, probably better if both teams are at near full health.

With that said, last year Brandon Graham was out for most of the year, I think they had some nagging OL injuries, they also signed Reddick and Bradberry who are upgrades, and Devonta Smith is improved.

They're better than last year but mostly because they're healthy and the coaching staff has gone all in on using Hurts as a runner without any illusions that they can turn him into a great passer.

Yea, because he's a really good runner he's an ok QB for the moment, but the Eagles are winning because of all the depth they've built throughout the roster thanks to the fact that Hurts is on a rookie deal.

But as we all know, that running ability (particularly in Hurts' case since he's literally their short yardage/goal-line back) doesn't last long in this league and neither will their depth if/when they have to extend Hurts in the next 12-18 months.

Graham, Kelce and Cox are all basically about to retire. Hargrave, Slay, Seumalo, Miles Sanders, Bradberry, both their starting LB's and both their starting safeties are all about to be UFA's.

That's literally half of the team's starters who are up for new contracts or on the cusp of retirement just as Hurts is going to start asking for $45-50 million/year.

What you're seeing right now is literally the best the Eagles will be over the next 2-3 years as their depth starts to deteriorate and Hurts and his running ability starts to slow down. And even then they might not even be better than we are in a pseudo-rebuilding year.

I finally zipped through the replay of the Eagles-Cardinals game per iamtdg and booze assignment.

Hard game to watch because they were both that same college offense of a shotgun play action (or handoff) almost every play with a million screens and short passes. If you know that's coming, you should be okay... your corners just have to prepare to get off blocks and make tackles all day long. I wasn't that impressed with Hurts. We know what he is, and that's a runner. He doesn't handle pressure well at all. If you blitz or even a little pressure comes free, he just sort of turtles up and goes down.

One thing I hadn't heard, Kelce hurt his foot or ankle or something in the second quarter and Juergens came in and I think that's when their offense stalled. When the O started moving again, Kelce was back in. I suspect this is the same thing he went to the tent for in practice yesterday.

This isn't a big surprise, but I was more impressed with Philly's defense than offense. They run and tackle very well. FWIW, our man Davis is impressive at times but totally disappears at times -- sometimes he just stands straight up and watches. I don't think he's in very good shape.

I heard that Hurts leads the league in passing yards gained off screens, which is...telling.

Thanks, I don't think I learned or added that much, though. Maybe mostly because our offense is so different from Arizona's.

I had wondered how AZ held them to 20 points. I guess the answer is, with all those tiny passes, they didn't have many big plays and had to march down the field a few yards at a time. Our corners really better be ready to tackle, though, which AZ did a good job of. A missed tackle or two and those quick screens go for big yardage, then their crowd gets really into it and things can snowball. But our corners have to know this so I think they'll be ready.

I couldn't help thinking, nothing against Lewis (though I've never loved him) but this is a game where a nickel like Bland who can really tackle would be very handy.
