Also, yesterday was another example of the quality that McCarthy does bring as a football coach and why I think he doesn't get enough credit.
I get that he's not Bill belichick or Andy Reid or Sean McVay, but he's a solid NFL head coach.
He won another game with a backup quarterback and the time against the AFC representative in the SB.
My guess is he's won more games with the backup quarterback in his just over 2 seasons here than Garrett won altogether between 2011 to 2019.
And that's no coincidence. The way the offense comes out and at least looks serviceable with average as best talent behind center is because that's when McCarthy is most involved with the offense.
Whether it's game planning, practicing, and the decision-making on game day, this is when McCarthy most gets involved with the offense.
Now just imagine how much better the unit will be if they just let him.....oh, I don't know.....coach it himself?
