Yeah. That's the kicker right there. If he was a passenger in that car, I'm done with him. I don't care if he was the shooter. He's complicit. That's really hard to defend.
I tend to agree. If you are in the situation, you go to the police the next morning as soon as you are away from that person. Staying quiet it a super bad idea. His only chance of avoiding jail is to roll on the shooter. Something he should have done much earlier. Loyalty doesn't extend to covering up murder for your bffs...

I can't imagine even if he does not escape jail time the league is going to suspend him for at least a year. It's a murder...

I mean I hope everything his attorney is saying is true. Now he just needs to cooperate through his attorney and let the police know who the other wannabe's were in the car and go from there. I'm sure the police will want to talk to all of them. The whole thing is tragic and really fucking stupid. Looks like a bunch of dorky college kids in the videos. But maybe I don't know what gansters look like these days.

I'm sure he will escape jail time if what his attorney is saying is true. Which is that he didn't have a gun and he had no idea that the dude was going to pull out a gun and start shooting. But the league may hand down a suspension. I won't even pretend to have any idea how long that would be. I'm not sure there is any recent precedent of witnessing a murder and not reporting it.

On a personal note I'm with you. One of your buddies kills a person in front of you in this cowardly fashion, you can't just keep your mouth shut and hope it disappears.

But he got around to changing his jersey number since the shooting though.

Well I guess Ray Lewis but that was a long time ago and before the league became so heavy handed. That being said, I'm not sure heavy handed applies to punishments for staying quiet on a murder. Any punishment would seem justified. But I think a year would be appropriate. I mean, 4 games? pfftt...no way

The video isn't terribly helpful other than one guy seemed to have gotten in a scuffle with Joseph's group. Also, there looks like a drug deal near the end of the video which is amusing.

If Bossman helps get the murderer convicted the NFL would probably be better off giving no suspension than to give a 4 game suspension on a murder case. Better to not bring that kind of attention.

Which video are you guys seeing? After watching the Fox 4 one, I think I change my mind and think he should be cut immediately. The victim was a kid who wasn't even from Dallas, was in town from east Texas for his birthday, and one of Joseph's boys shot him over that stupid little scuffle on the corner that the kid didn't even start? Beyond horrible. A 20 year old kid.

If he was in the car at all, I think he should be cut. Him not notifying the police right after it happened would be enough for me to cut bait as soon as I can.

Same here. I didn't realize the detective on the case knew as many specifics as she did. They know the group who did it and they know Joseph was one of them in the car (his attorney admitted it). The only real question is which one of the four pulled the trigger.

Since I mentioned it, here's the vid:

I'm sure the cops will know quickly which one the shooter was. If they all keep their mouth shut I think Jerry has no choice but to cut him.

I mean it takes more than just not reporting knowledge of a crime for that. At least under Missouri law it does.
How is not reporting a murder not being an accessory? I'm genuinely curious. I understand the gist, as in a person shouldn't be called an accomplice if they were walking down the street and witnessed a random murder as they were walking down the street, but someone who is in the actual vehicle with the murderer? Seems like he is trying to help his buddy get away with it. That seems accessoryish.

If he dumps the gun for example, that would make him an accomplice after the fact. Generally speaking you can't hold someone liable for a lack of action. They have to actively do something.
