It blows my mind they have that money for Gregory, but only because he is one of their homegrown.

It is like we really don't have the balls to commit to a free agent for decent money unless we "know the player".
It's completely illogical.

It makes me wonder how much of it is a desire not to bring in too much of an external influence to the weird isolated culture that exists in Dallas. A big name star being paid as a top 5-10 player on the team could be disruptive to the weird pecking order/dynamic that exists between the stars and the front office.

We have seen that syndrome with several outside FAs that have some skins on the wall.

For example, Everson Griffin was not expensive, but he simply could not adjust to our way of doing things.

But in Dallas, players are "made" by getting promoted via contract. Bring in a guy at $6M plus, that might not work out so well.

Please. It is unlikely he has to work for much other than just show up.

We aren't getting a free agent end and it is not exactly set in stone we get a good one in the draft.

Excuse me, sir, but have you not heard of JPP?

He's only like 34.

Part of it I'm sure is them not wanting to lose out on those sweet precious compensatory mid and late round picks by signing big ticket players.

And this is their response to losing Gregory after offering him 14/year. To give Dorance Armstrong 2/13, Dante Fowler 2 mil and sit on the rest.

Fucking pathetic.
Would it have made you feel better if they had gave Fowler 2/15?

Hope he severely outperforms his contract.
Gonna need a lot of that from a lot of players this year.

My confidence... it wains.
It is like a return to the George Selvie days. Hopefully Quinn didn’t fuck this one up. But he hit 1.000 last year.

why is the cap impact greater than the base plus bonus?

Because of likely to be earned incentives maybe? I think the rule is that if an incentive is likely to be earned, it counts against your current year's cap and if it doesn't turn out to actually get earned the team gets a cap rebate the following year.

To be fair: coach can only do so much, but ineptness is always front and center and I would never call Quinn an inept DC.
