A lot of officiating complaints from the team.

I’m fed up with it, too. I’m not one that thinks the refs have it out for the Cowboys, they’re just bad in general.

I remember when you could watch a game and not have to hold your breath every time there was a decent play. It’s gotten that bad, and it’s usually focused on one team for a while and then you start to see them try and force a balancing act to try and even things out as the game goes on.

It’s bullshit. The refs have way too much freedom to fuck things up without repercussions.

Those holding calls in the first half, and the first drive of the second half, were extremely ticky tack, especially when you consider that there were 2 refs staring right at Lawrence's shoulder pad getting tugged as he closed in on Murray with no call.

It doesn't excuse the overall play of the team but shit like that makes a huge difference in close games between generally even teams.
Oh I know. It just irks me to have to blame the refs.

On the flip side that crew is flag happy and generally makes the game a drag to watch. We have to know that coming in and play accordingly.

Or maybe that we had a good running play because there was holding.
It was clear on the long Elliott run. Clear holding helped open up the run.

In general the Cardinal DL was more motivated than our flat OL, and Chandler Jones was a fricking beast.

Also, if it's not clearly open, Dak moves past his progression onto something else that might be.

That strategy works most of the time, but in playoff-type atmospheres the game is more about imposing your will than following the law of averages.

Last week for example Dak forced the ball to Amari because Cooper asked for the football. And it worked beautifully.

I think this is the vast majority of our issue offensively. Defenses disguising their looks and Dak being confused.

Maybe Dak is missing having a veteran backup in his ear?
If disguising coverages is confusing Dak, then it should follow that Dak is holding the ball longer.

ergo, I'd like to see Dak's Passer Rating broken down by seconds-to-pass. There should be a correlation...although, this doesn't fix shit as it's more consequence than causation.

It also doesn't explain why Dak roasted a very talented defense coached by the greatest defensive mind in NFL history 2 months ago.

I think it goes back to our running game not being able to take advantage of light boxes/shell coverages.

Problems started vs Denver when they refused to blitz and instead challenged us in coverage.

Dak is conservative enough in his reads to the point where he won't go deep if he sees bracket coverage. That makes the whole team easier to defend.

One answer is Schultz, as would be some designed pass plays to backs, but at some point Dak just needs to let the ball fly and have the WR's go get it.

In fairness, he did draw a should-have-been holding in the end zone in I think the second quarter that would have been a safety.
Aside from being held, he logged one assist. That seems strange.

They are. Dak is even essentially admitting it in that quote.

Teams are doing it more often against him. They wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't working.

I have a theory on Dak. Several times this year he's been bad most of the game but then somewhere in the late 3rd or 4th quarter he suddenly finds it and starts throwing darts.

I think he's too risk averse. We've seen the replays (and sometimes even live) of when he has guys open but he comes off of them to a checkdown, or even holds it too long for a sack. I wonder if he isn't being too careful. It's good that he's not reckless with his throws, but you also can't be afraid to fire it in there when necessary, either.

Later in the game when time is running out and we're behind, it's like he realizes there are limited possessions left, so he just goes with his first instinct and lets it go without thinking so much. You can see that not only are his throws physically better, but he seems more decisive and quicker in his decision to let the ball go. I think this is also why the hurry up works for him -- less time to think, more just reacting and cutting it loose.

Related, I wonder if his confidence isn't as great as we think. Maybe he's reticent to make those throws sometimes because he doesn't quite trust himself? But then later when there's basically no choice he has to go for it.

if we face them again, its going to be ugly no team is going to show us respect.
My concern is they'll be healthy and good to go next time. If we do end up playing them I think our only hope is to play desperate like they did. Throw some revenge in the mix
