That's interesting, but I think the Patriots were thrilled to go into halftime with the lead. And I think the strategy against our offense, if you don't have a prolific offense yourself (and maybe even if you do), is to shorten the game.
So I don't think I disagree with them taking a knee there. Too many things could happen that might give us another crack at scoring.
I think the takeaway here though is that coaches make in game decisions that affect the outcome and every single coach will make decisions that don't work out. You just have to play the percentages as best you can.
Too many people are treating McCarthy's decisions like this is Garrett icing his kicker or something. Let's all relax. The coaching situation in Dallas is about as good as it's been since Parcells, Payton and Zimmer were here.
Even if you disagree with a decision here or there, or you disagree with every single decision he makes, it looks very much like McCarthy's coaching on the whole is going to put up way more Ws than Ls.
For the life of me I can't figure out what the hell people are bitching about.
At some point McCarthy will probably make a controversial decision that backfires and maybe costs us a game. And all the people bitching right now will say, "SEE?!? SEE!?!" Because people want to be right.
But it will be a false prophecy. If a timeline goes to infinity, all events will occur.
But that doesn't erase the fact that it's wiser to play the best odds that you can muster.
Everyone on this earth will be wrong at some point. The frequency and egregiousness is what we should be focused on. And it just isn't there.
