Remember the MNF slate from 2000?
By design.
It’slogic that I think ignores decades of league history.I like the idea to go for it there. Titans offense was moving the ball at will and I'm not sure I would have felt confident in keeping them out of the end zone if they won the toss in OT.
You have 4th and inches with one of the biggest QB's in the league. Josh Allen should get that 9 times out of 10.
A field goal is about as much of a guarantee as the Bills offense being able to move the ball forward a few inches. Especially after they had already gone 80 yards in like 2-and-a-half minutes. Most of the time, an offense that prolific with Allen at QB is going to get the first down. There's always outliers like there was tonight. But there's outliers on kicks too. Bad snap, shank, block, etc. It’slogic that I think ignores decades of league history.
IMO, take care of the score first, then press your advantage. The game’s 99% headed for OT.
Going by the modern computations ignores the human factor that the defense knows the fucking game is on the line and will sell out to stuff this one play.
It’s why the Titans now own the tie-breaker over the Bills. Fucking dumb-asses.
This is where analytics has gone mad. How do you not kick that? First rule is to not lose the game.
I don't know. We had 3 TO's and the 2 minute warning. We don't get the 4th down conversion we can still stop them and get the ball back. Same as what happened when we missed the FG.Correct. This is why McCarthy was correct in taking the field goal on 4th and 1.
First rule is to not lose the game is a great way to put it.
No, I meant getting stymied on back to back QB sneaks.
McCarthy’s opening drive 4th down attempt vs Patriots was worse than the Bills 4th down attempt. I’m fine with the Bills going for it or kicking the FG.
Three factors in favor of going for it as the Bills did:
- It was a foot
- The Bills have a strong mobile Josh Allen
- The Titans had already scored something like 5 of last 5 possessions, already topping 34 points.
Id be kicking the FG if the score was like 17-20 and it was like 4th and 2.
On the opponent 40, fine. On our own 34, though? We already got stuffed on 3rd and 1 right before. The game is not on the line in the first quarter. It's a huge difference.
No way. Not even close. It’s not an all-timer horrible decision, but it’s worse than the Bills going for it there at the end
Stringing this thought out, would you be in support of going for two point conversions in the first QtrThe game is not on the line in the first quarter. It's a huge difference.
Had we been playing the Chiefs or a more powerful offense, doesthis sway your decision? The game is not on the line in the first quarter. It's a huge difference.
It was pretty damn conservative but with a rookie QB, the lead and getting the ball in the second half it's debatable. He just didn't want his rookie to throw a pick six to Diggs. He knew he was lucky to have the lead at that point.
