As much as we all hate Jaylon Smith, he actually played like a passable rotational LB today. LVE and of course Parsons were better but he actually looked like he belonged in an NFL game.

We'll see how long it lasts but it's nice to see.
He also played more combined snaps than Parsons and Vander Esch. Hopefully it was a one game thing thanks to needing Parsons to rush.

Well we definitely know who is after Stephen.
I dislike connor Mcgregor but would settle with him for GM to get it out of the family and for pure amusement factor.

Apparently the game clock went out and McCarthy couldn't see how much time was left. Once it went under 17 seconds they didn't want to risk someone being tackled in bounds by using the timeout at that point.

Also Apparently one of our guys ran off the field and wasn't supposed to. So it prevented us from running another play quickly.

There is an article about it already. So yeah a player fucked up and there was an issue with the stadium clock. Not making excuses but it does explain a lot.
Going back to this, I don't know if this story is true, but even if he's blowing smoke up our asses, at least he saw the need to do so....meaning he understands it was a blunder.

A big reason why Garrett always made the same mistakes time and time again is because he never realized when he was making said mistake or why it was even a mistake in the first place.

And of course, he never owned up to anything even after film review. He was simply incapable of acknowledging that he or they as a staff could have handled a certain situation better.

So even if McCarthy's story doesn't check out, it's still an improvement over Garrett because it says he realizes that was a blunder, and hopefully it serves to keep them from doing the same the next time around.

I'm feeling pretty damn good about our defense, and I absolutely cannot believe I am saying that.
And look at all the young players we'll have coming back from injury the next few weeks. Plus Cox should start working in also.

Micah Parsons had 4 QB hits yesterday, do you want to guess the last time DeMarcus Lawrence had that many?

4 years ago against the Cardinals when he had 3 sacks in 2017, where he had 6 hits. And before that?

Never! He has never had 4 or more QB hits in a game besides that Cardinals game.

And Randy Gregory?

Also never!

So you might be thinking yea, but our edge rushers are meh, how about a future HOF'er like Khalil Mack?

You also have to go all the way back to 2017 for his last 4+ QB hit game, and he only had exactly 4 in that particular game. And before that?

He got exactly 4 twice in 2016, went 4+ twice in 2015 (4 once, 7 another time), and zero in 2015. So in his 7+ seasons Khalil Mack has gotten 4+ QB hits in a game exactly five times, and only ever once more than 4.

And how about the Redskins vaunted Montez Sweat and Chase Young?

A total of 0 games with 4+ QB hits over 3 combined seasons!

Myles Garrett?

Three times in 4+ seasons, and only once over 4.

Joey Bosa?

5 times in 5+ seasons, and only once over 4.

It's only one stat in a vacuum but there is a strong correlation between QB hits and sacks, which is to say that usually the league's top sack leaders more or less directly correlates to the league leaders in QB hits. Last year the top 10 was TJ Watt, Leonard Williams, Carl Lawson, Aaron Donald, Chris Jones, Joey Bosa, DeForest Buckner, Trey Hendrickson, Stephon Tuitt, and Za'Darius Smith.

Out of those 10, 6 finished in the top 10 in the league in sacks, Buckner finished 11th, while 2 of the other 3 (Bosa, Jones) are two of the best pass rushers of this generation.

Now, I'm not saying Parsons is ever going to be the pure pass rusher any of those guys are but it is pretty god damned special that our rookie LB, who was drafted to play a role akin to a Bobby Wagner or Devin White, had to basically move to full-time edge rusher in the 2nd game of his career and put up a stat line that rivals some of the best edge rushers of this generation, some of whom are lock future HOF'ers.

Point taken. I’d just like to know why we keep getting saddled with folks who keep making those mistakes rather than learning from them.
