I don't agree with this completely. I feel like private businesses should be free to require whatever they want. If you want to require people to wear their underwear on the outside and bark like a dog to come in that should be legal. I firmly disagree with any business that requires vaccine passports and I would never do business there but they should be free to do business however they want without government interference.

Ok but what if all the grocery stores do it? Then you have no choice but to bend to their fascist ways.

I would have been with you on this even just a year ago but after seeing how "our betters" abused their authority fuck them

I would normally agree with you. I think it is well documented that I am a free market kinda guy, but sometimes, when met with extreme idiocy, you have to counter before the bullshit gets out of hand. And, it has gotten the fuck out of hand. Shut this shit down and let's all move on without the government overreach. If you feel regulating businesses on a temporary issue (which this is definitely temporary) is bad, then I'm not going to completely disagree with you.

But, what if these states didn't stand up and squash this nonsense? How far would this get out of hand?

That's the same argument that got a bakery closed down because they didn't want to violate their religious beliefs. Being able to do business with folks is not a human right.

Exactly my point. This shit got so far out of hand, by federal edict, that states are finally going "fuck you". If it were up to the feds, we would be in full lockdown still. More people on welfare, the better, right?

The power is with the people on this one. The way it should work is that the people make the final decision. I don't do business with business owners that require BS. I stopped going to my favorite cigar shop because they won't let you in without a mask. They won't let you in the humidor or to touch any product. Fine by me, I'll shop somewhere else.

Getting a cake baked for you and asking for shot records are a little different in my head. (see: HIPAA)

Anyway, nobody is trying to cancel anyone like that (so that doesn't apply), but this is an unprecedented overreach by our government. We have never seen this before, and the big corporations and media have taken to this shit of making everyone dependent. And, we shouldn't try every avenue to fight back? Nope.

Imagine if that is required and our population wasn't stupid...

Shot records would be required to enter, folks would stop doing business there and the business would a) learn their lesson and change their policy or b) only serve idiots

its a win win

I agree with all of that. But, like I said, the states are now going to have to slow down the feds. This is a war. Don't think it isn't. And, right now the Republicans are trying to win with too many niceties. They have got to go on offense, and this Covid shit has proven that local and state election are 100 times more important that federal.

I'm 100% free market normally, but sometimes govt intervention in idiocy is necessary (see: TSA).

No there were numerous other bakeries within the area that would bake it, this isn't anywhere close to the same

Or the country would quickly head the way of Venezuela or South Korea, or Saudi Arabi, or China? We are headed down that road too damn fast for my liking. Big corps have gotten so big that they have so much influence in political arenas that the "free market" just might (is) controlled by the left. Kinda scary to allow a faulty free market to walk on its own without a little govt guidance.

So the problem is that businesses are too big, coddled by the government and the general population is stupid? Got it.

Y'all big government republicans are part of the damn problem

No the government isn't the hammer to get things done. Smart people are the correct tool to use here.
I'm struggling with the correct grammar with the above last sentence. Smart people is or are the correct tool? Help me out, Cotton.
