Exactly. I think we are in agreement on this. You're obviously okay with the family watching the accused jerk and writhe as they die, and that's what I'm saying. Make it hurt for everyone to see. Then the next person that thinks about doing something horrific might think twice.
I fully support capital punishment. But we still have to preserve our humanity. There’s a difference between having your neck broke and having your head turned into mist.

I don’t care about the person being executed. They deserve what’s coming to them. I’m only thinking of the family. If you’ve ever witnessed up close somebody taking a round to the head, it’s not something you ever forget. I couldn’t imagine seeing that happen to a family member. And that’s all I’m saying.

I think we have to preserve our humanity towards the condemned too.

Frankly the only real reason I can come up with to continue to support the death penalty is to ensure that they cannot return to society.

If our criminal justice system could ensure that a little better I think I'd be ok getting rid of capital punishment.

Are you talking about how the death penalty is enforced or just humanity in general? I find it hard to show humanity to a convicted killer. Where was his humanity?

I think the threat of the death penalty is helpful in getting confessions and/or for killers to reveal where bodies are located in exchange for taking it off the table. I realize this leverage can also be abused by the accused/convicted but the cost of that abuse is minimal imo

Just seems kind of fishy when one side is trying so hard to block the results of something like this. It's like one party refusing to do a drug test in a family law case. We all kind of just assume the test would be positive at that point.
Why would they fight it at ALL unless they are guilty? You would think they would want to have their names cleared of any wrongdoing. “See, it was a fair election. Let’s move on.”

I keep hearing the capital thing called an insurrection?

What say you?

Was it an insurrection, an armed insurrection, a riot, a coup, a protest that got out of control, all of the above, other?

It was a mostly peaceful protest
