Losing your three best OL to injury is huge, though, and that's not even accounting for Frederick retiring.

Oh, and your starting QB. So I wouldn't say this was a near healthy offense.

The defense would've sucked regardless, yes. But the offense should've been good enough for, say, a couple more wins.

I do like Rivera a lot, though. Think he's an excellent coach.

Edit, shoulda just waited and quoted Simp's post.
I consider Frederick retiring to be a player lost for the season due to injury. His retirement timing left us scrambling; luckily we had Looney who was a decent backup and we have some hope for Biadascz but any time a player steps away unexpectedly like that, throwing a fourth round pick at a replacement doesn't begin to compensate for the loss of a Pro Bowler.

Only this coming year will I consider Frederick to no longer be a loss as we have had adequate time to develop or acquire personnel to replace him.

So yeah, I consider that we are down 4 out of 5 starting OL for the season, plus our top swing tackle. The only OL left standing was the worst starter. And yes with Prescott back and healthy I think this team is easily leading for the division right now.

Not that we would have been a true contender with the ridiculous state of this defense.

Cincy has played themselves out of position for Penei Sewell, too. :lol

And we're probably playing ourselves down far enough for the team to feel it's ok to take a CB. That should go over like a fart in church around here.
I would take the OL or the TE there, but Farley at 11 isn't as terrible as Farley or Surtain in the top 5-7 or so.

Philadelphia drafts #6 and we’re at #11.

Hilariously, Houston gives its #4 to Miami (1st and 2nd rounder). OMG

Actually, Houston gives up their #3 to Miami... :lol ...both rounds

Though actually my preference would be to trade down and then maybe trade down again. I'm not sure that I need a top flight player at DB; what I need is to saturate my OL and defense with some fresh faces and then discard the high priced underachievers or let the expensive free agents walk.

I don't think Philly will lose on purpose. But they just got eliminated from the playoffs. I doubt they have a ton of motivation to go out and try to win this game. Our best hope is that the coaching staff tries really hard to put something together to help Hurts sort of springboard in as the starter for next year. I'd love to see Hurts have a great game against the Skins and lock that job up though. Honestly he looks like a gimmic QB that I would love for the Eagles to think he is a legit starting NFL QB. The guy can hit some wide open throws after scrambling or threatening with his legs but in terms of dropping back, reading a defense and completing a ball he sucks.
Yea, the hope is that the coaches are motivated to win to help build momentum with Hurts going into next year. It's also feasible that Pederson's job, and the coaching staff at large, relies on this game to an extent. It's within the realm of possibility that a strong showing from Hurts and a win in the last game of the year buys him another season while a blowout gets him canned.

I think the Skins are the definite favorite if Smith can play, but ultimately we're talking about two shitty teams and anything can happen when you get two shitty teams together, especially if Smith gets knocked around a bit and isn't 100%. That goes for our game against the Giants as well.

Either way, I'm not especially concerned with winning the division (why not at this point I guess?) and I'm hopeful that a bit of a foundation has already been laid going into next year, especially if we beat the Giants.

With a healthy Prescott we would've clinched the division about 2 weeks ago.

You have to love those plays where the QB just doesn't see him at all and your DE basically has a free run at the QB after destroying the blocker.
and then the refs blow a fumble call. :tehj

Aldon Smith is more of an interior rusher it seems, he isn't quite as explosive as he used to be and generally wins with his power/length, which is fine with Gregory/Lawrence on the edges in nickel/dime but it should be taken into account when looking at re-signing him.

He can basically be a much better version of what Crawford used to play for us, basically on the edge in base packages and moving inside in nickel/dime.
