Here's a couple of points that me and a friend were talking about a few months back when all of the riots and vandalizing of confederate statues was going on.Twitter is going nuts. Still saying Trump will win Arizona.
If the Dems ran someone competent like Tulsi, we’d have a clear winner and none of this bullshit today.
Instead they run an obvious mush head.
1. The democrats need to do a better job making themselves more competitive in rural areas. They allowed their messaging to be pulled too far left....mainly spurred on by the 35 and younger crowd. The problem with that is most active voters are over the age of 35. So even if there are a lot of qualities that they may not like about Trump I think older voters have a far bigger issue with the excessive riots, destruction of property, things being overly PC, etc. Obviously a better candidate than Biden would help but I think they'd have done better if they backed someone who was willing to standup against some of the ridiculous things happening on the left side of the aisle.
2. The silent majority is real and Dems need to start embracing this tactic as well. Everyone. Not just the politicians. However most of them don't have the self-discipline to carry this out. You saw it as soon as they announced the House Impeachment decision on Trump last year. Some cheers broke out and Pelosi had to give them a stern look. The left loves to tout how they're energized but guess what, all your antagonizing over the last 4 years has energized the other side as well. It goes both ways. That's why I said they'd be in better shape if everyone on the left would've just STFU and showed up to vote. It would have been akin to a political ambush, IMO, as there'd likely have been a little more apathy in some of the GOP leaning areas. It's chess not checkers.
I think those points have largely played out. Point #1 is definitely something they need to come to grips with going forward. You can't just continue to rely on winning the major urban blocs. They've got to figure out a way to make some inroads into rural counties as well.
