One can be smart and still be a massive dickhead. SBK was that. You can't deny the dude was a prick. He was.
Maybe my memory is foggy, but I don’t think he was any dickheadier than any of us now.

He’d call you names, but name-calling still happens here.

And that does spill over. We have had posters here banned over politics, like Bipo.
I remember I almost got banned for my politics posting during the tea party era when I was drinking a lot. Good times.

I honestly remember him being far worse than anyone else before or since. But it was a long time ago and memories can play tricks on you. I was at a different point in life back then. Now I've got a busy ass career and kids. Things don't get to me the same anymore.

Yeah no he was a cunt. Would constantly engage in personal attacks and would really drive people away from the board. Stifled conversation.

Smitty idolized him though...

Yeah just glad Schmitty never turned into an asshole like him. Hell Schmitty is the reason I moved from the ESPN boards here

He was a little grumpy and dickish but yes so are many on this board right now. I also think most if not all of us have mellowed with age.

How old are you if you don't mind me asking? I've always thought you were pretty young.

37 now, but that’s a testament to how long we’ve all been here. I started back on the ESPN boards around 2002-03, I would have been like 19-20. Came over here in 2004, would have been like 21.

It was me. And it wasn’t for hating Hicks. I only said he was overrated. I was the first to get banned, and when people stuck up for me saying that was a weak reason to ban somebody, they were banned, too. And it only picked up steam from there.
Yeah, I think I was not far behind you during that little tirade.

His account still valid here, right?
No, we have had the board go down since all of that happened and everyone had to set up a new account. Obviously, he would not have done that.

I doubt there is another msg board alive that has survived 16 years with the core of the posters relatively intact. It's pretty impressive in internet terms. Not only have we made it 16 years, but we did so through multiple board crashes, etc.

I guess we did so because we are now a majority made up of deplorables.

My recollection of SBK was that he was pretty smart about the football stuff but he was intolerable if he disagreed with you and had a tendency to be degrading. That was the correlation I made between random poster guy and him. All in all I don’t think there is anyone that was semi regular here that I wouldn’t be willing to have back(maybe Thorn). I kind of miss boberts.

The worst thing about him is that he was (is?) literally incapable of admitting he was wrong on something. I mean, Dak is quite clearly a top 10 QB in the league, but he'll still bash him like he's Chad Hutchinson.

Or his way of feigning that he may have been wrong is to go so over the top in his criticism of a player in the face of a mountain of evidence to the contrary, to the point where people assume it's an act/sarcasm, but he's really just waiting for the opportunity to dig back in when the player has a bad game or whatever.

He definitely knows football but he has way too high of an opinion of himself, is blinded by pride/ego and definitely isn't the genius he thinks he is.

We are the USA of msg boards. Rebels breaking free from the tyranny of reality to establish a new land.

I salute you

16 years? Wow. I thought the board was even more established than that. I joined in 2005 right around the draft.
