Mike McCarthy will not have season-long captains as voted on by the players, continuing a process he followed in Green Bay. Three players will be named captains each week with the players informed at the team meeting the night before games. If the Cowboys make the playoffs, players would vote for captains. “I feel it’s an opportunity for your full roster to experience,” McCarthy said.

Since it is the random thread, i’ve been watching a lot of throwback regular season games on YouTube. Who the hell else misses Marion Barber?
He was definitely a beast when he was in his prime.

Prime example of how to misuse, overpay, and abuse a player.

He never was a lead back and was always at his best as part of a tandem or committee.

So they ran him exclusively until he broke down.

It's actually more like welcome to the NFL where it's rarely a good idea to give a RB a second contract. They all burn out quickly.

Especially those that play with such reckless abandon. Earl Campbell to a lesser degree of course.

But yet another contract 'gifted' to a player unnecessarily, which the team ultimately regrets. Like Crawford's.

Marcus Allen benefitted from both an increasingly pass-oriented offense, splitting time with Bo Jackson, and reduced playing time from being on the outs with Al Davis.

His career lasted longer and he still proved highly effective in his later years, even his final season.

Tom Landry understood how to play Tony Dorsett, that you don’t treat a Maserati like a pickup truck. Bill Parcells knew he made a mistake overplaying Joe Morris.

Jason Garrett played Barber literally until he collapsed with one soft tissue injury or another.

cant argue, should have kept politics out of it, they were the first to do this, now you have to live with the consequences.

America: you have the right to say what you want.

Certain people: but not the consequences of those words

America: it goes both ways.

Certain people: gasping
