According to two personnel executives with other teams, Thomas did not look like a willing tackler and was beaten more in coverage during his one season with the Ravens.

So why would we be interested?

Because that's still better than Clinton-Dix.
I'm sure, but then you factor in the behavior issues.

Guys like Owens and Haley were still A+ players that worked hard when we brought them in.

I'm not sure bringing in a B- player with a bad attitude is worth it, even if he's replacing a C- player.

Thomas did still make the Pro Bowl last year.

When's the last time anyone could say that about a Cowboys safety?

That's the one thing that might convince me it's worth the gamble. If he wants to be here that bad, maybe he might not want to mess it up once he gets here.
This. With his elite on-field history and guaranteed money from Baltimore to ease the financial you’d think teams would be all over this and he’d already have a long list of suitors.

When he finds a smaller market for his services than he expected, I’m hoping he comes to Dallas and on his best behavior.

Off of his name and what he's done in the past. Not really from what he done last year. It is just the pro bowl, afterall.

Probowl invites really don't mean much. They are a popularity contest that's always late to the party. Players have great seasons and miss the probowl all the time. Then get recognition the following year. Same with when players start falling off. They still get voted in for what they've done in the past. Voters don't pay attention to the here and now.

All Pro is a much better judge of a player as far as post season recognition.

This makes it sound like we're signing him and just don't want to talk about it, if he's saying it's like Griffen.

But with the Clampetts who knows.

I will say I prefer them not talking about their plans, it's better for the organization to keep things close to the vest. I don't remember them being this way prior to this offseason. Wonder what changed.

If these things are known issues to the Cowboys, don't be surprised if they pass on him.
Or he tells them he was really unhappy and wanted out and promises to be on his best behavior in Dallas because it's where he's always wanted to be, he'd be back home, close to family, etc.

If they are willing to talk to him, then he can sell them on that.

If they truly intend to pass based on his recent issues, then they don't even bother to reach out to him or his agent.

I guess we'll find out which one it is soon enough.

All-Pro is definitely better but I think Pro Bowl still carries value.

You are correct that Pro Bowls don’t mean as much but I’m not sure he didn’t still warrant it.
