If Dak was as good a QB as Adams is a safety he'd have a 38/year contract right now.

I'm probably moving the goal posts here and I apologize ahead of time, but I think this point is relevant.

A "good" QB is much more important than an "elite" safety. (This is regardless of whether or not any of us think Dak, or Adams for that matter, is elite.)

In other words, logically you would prioritize your good QB over your elite safety.

Yet here we are.

So all that to say, no, I don't think it's a slam dunk that we'd take care of Adams just because we might think he's elite.

We went to the wall with Dez, with Cooper, with Lawrence, and now with Dak (and in fact over the wall so to speak). Add Zeke too even though his contract wasn't up (we didn't exactly jump to take care of him when he asked, he basically held out). The only ones we've been quick to take care of lately are the players that give us discounts.

Perhaps you're right and if so it's because of Stephen, so Jerry's past behavior may not be an indicator of how the organization moves forward, especially as he ages further.

Logic would dictate though that if we were to give up draft capital for Adams that we'd be doing so with the idea of making him the highest paid safety in the league at some point soon. He also said he'd be willing to wait on an extension for certain teams, with Dallas surely being one of them.

Of course Stephen let Cooper hit the open market for 24 hours after trading a 1 for him so who knows?

I don't think Adams is anywhere near a nutcase like Brown though, he's an elite player who wanted to be paid a little early and the Jets basically lied to him after fielding trade offers behind his back. He also only wants to move to a team that is a contender.

Basically, I think there are more motivating factors at play than simply money and it's not like everything was going along swimmingly with the Jets and out of nowhere he demanded a trade. Long story short, if we were to trade for him, and implicitly agree to extend him, I don't think we'd have any issues.

That squeaky wheel got the grease.

Reportedly traded to Seattle for a 1st and 3rd in 2021 and a 1st in 2022.

Seattle gets a 4th rounder back and also gave the Jets S Bradley McDougald.

That's insane on Seattle's part. They have to be convinced those picks will be in the late 20s or 30s, but you know how that goes.

please tell me we'd get at least that for Dak
You'd have to think so, right? Quarterback is the toughest, most important position to fill.

Thus far, teams have gotten two 1st rounders for:
  1. Defensive end / pass rusher - Mack
  2. Offensive tackle - Tunsil
  3. Cornerback - Ramsey
  4. Strong safety - Adams

I was probably one of the most ardent supporters of a trade for Adams but there is no chance in the world I'd have given up two 1's, let alone even more on top.

My best and final offer would've been like a 1+3+Woods.

Seattle fucked itself in more ways than they know. They already draft like shit and can’t protect Russell Wilson. Now, they’ve way overpaid for a Safety and basically screwed themselves out of any quality offensive linemen over the next 2-3 years. If I’m Russell Wilson, I’m fucking fuming at this move.

Shit, based on that trade, if Jacksonville called inquiring about trading for Dak, my opening asking price is Ngakoue, Chaisson, their 1st and 2nd in 2021 and their 1st in 2022. And perhaps more than that.

There are about 10 non-QB's I'd trade two 1's for and I can guarantee you none of them are DB's.

It basically has to be an OL or DL who is like 26 or younger and has about a 50/50 shot at making the HOF.
