Probably Colombo and Lal as well since they are under contract too.

Which means most coaches with integrity and their own plan will likely steer away.

I think the premise is that Zimmer would be fired by Minnesota in favor of Stefanski if they lose to the Saints. I don't think the Vikings would string Zimmer along when there is the possibility that Stefanski takes a HC job elsewhere.
That would be pretty cold blooded of Minnesota. Last time we saw something like that was Lovie Smith by Tampa in order to keep Dirk Koetter. And this was after a 6-10 year, not a playoff one.

Sorry. Reading is hard for me. Ive seen other tweets with Zimmers name without that caveat so just assumed. Will be better in 2020.

If not fired would anybody be willing to trade for him?

Not it.

If I am trading for a coach, they better have a Super Bowl as a head coach on their resume.

Which reads: "Most coaches with a better way to make 5-7 million."

Really unfair to Garrett to drag this out. He could have had other job offers by now.
:lol

I laugh because I don't think there will be much interest in him on the open market but technically you're right. I mainly think it's BS to allow the assistants to twist in the wind.

Richard is the only name that I've seen linked to interviews with other organizations.

I doubt it although I wouldn't be surprised if Jerry got suckered into giving up a 4th or some shit, especially if it means the Vikings letting go of Kubiak as well.

I agree that Payton is the only guy I'd actually trade picks for.

Not surprising we're in for more of the same crap style of management from GM Jerry. Forcing assistants onto whoever accepts the job in Dallas.

Heaven forbid a coach comes in and decides what schemes and coaches he works with. Nope. Jerry has to throw that yoke around a coach's neck on day 1.

Would it make that much sense to promote Stefanski rather than just having Kubiak take the OC reigns for them? Doing a panic move to promote an assistant to prevent him getting poached, hasn't worked out that often that I can think of.

Yup. New coach will have to accept Zeke and Dak, which may turn away some candidates.

I'll say this, while it's fun to sit here and discuss various possibilities for the next HC/staff, at the end of the day this organization is a complete joke based on shit like this:

Garrett has done quite literally nothing for this franchise over the last 10 years, he's a net negative, and they're treating him like some revered Super Bowl winning HC because he and Jerry enjoy patting each other's asses and filling each other's heads with complete bullshit.

The Packers sent an actual SB winning coach, one with a street named after him right outside the stadium, packing in the middle of a season and these fools are here dilly-dallying around because they're going to have hurt feelings letting this parasitic snake who has actually held the team back for years go.

It's pathetic and honestly childish.

Probably not but that's the rumor.

Full circle. The Vikings trade Zimmer to the Cowboys for 6 players and 6 conditional picks.

Today's meeting is just to firm up what Garrett's bringing to the New Years Eve potluck at the Jones Mahal tonight.

"Brill makes a killer chile relleno"
"She make it spicy? Lots of flavor?"
"It'll take a week before you'll see paprika restocked"
"Well, then Jason...Feliz Cumpleanos and I'll see you tonight"

Jimmy: two championships yet fired in a drunken rage
Garrett: zero championships and eternal respect
When Jones was asked about what he looks for in people he hires:

“Their work ethic, loyalty – I’d probably stop right there."

So Garrett has been loyal to the family and probably did work hard. Remember, this is the guy who elected not to go forward with Dan Reeves as a consultant after he refused to punch a time clock.

Jimmy? Not so much. He could have given two shits about kissing the ass of the family and probably took too many vacations in the offseason to go fishing.

This is exactly what I thought when I heard that one of the reasons Jerry was dragging this out was to allow Garrett time to properly closeout the season....conducting exit interviews and such.

This is a huge waste of time for two reasons. First, Garrett isn't going to be there next season so those players are paying even less attention to his message now than they did in the past. Second, why would any of them care what a loser like Garrett has to say when clearly he has no clue about what it takes to excel in NFL.

Now if an outgoing coach like Sean Payton were holding exit interviews, absolutely attend and pay attention to his message. But there is no way in hell these guys give a flying fuck about the message being delivered by that clapping buffoon.
