One interesting thing to consider...I don't think the Eagles longterm QB solution is on their roster right now...I am curious to see how that plays out.
They want Mariota and think there are reasonable scenarios which will allow them to get him. Package Foles and McCoy and a first for him, etc.

I don't think they'll package their most dynamic offensive playmaker.

McCoy is a franchise player and a gamebreaker, so I'd be very surprised if they did that.

I'd love for them to give up a talent like McCoy and a future first to move up.

Teams like Tampa, Tenn, NYJ, St Lou, all will have the chance to take Mariotta before the Eagles can make a deal like that. Not sure I see either Tampa or Tenn pass on him...he seems like a type of person Smith would be drawn to.

You don't think Tampa would take that deal from Philly?

Gather yourself, it's about to get interesting...
I'm going to take a couple of days and enjoy this. Kinda like Romo taking Wednesdays off.

First off, that is not a deal that I think has any chance of happening. Foles is not a guy I think that really moves the needle much for any team. If he is a key piece then it is a bad deal. McCoy is interesting, but he is also going to be 27 going in to next season...RBs typically start fading once they get close to 30. All in all...the proposed deal makes no sense at all.

Plus, McCoy is slated to make something like 10m next year.

If the Eagles got Mariota it would take an RGIII type deal. No team is going to give that pick up for Foles and an aging, declining McCoy.

I think this is the difference in the mental makeup of previous teams versus this one. There is no selfishness. No one asked to carry the offense (Romo). And, they are playing as a team because of it.

I think Mariota starts dropping closer to the draft, would not be surprised if he goes in the bottom of the top 10.

He will start dropping because he is not a "traditional" QB meaning can he run a pro style offense.

I think the big difference is they are being coached a lot smarter this season. It is what we've (well, most of us) been calling for for years.
