I don't think so. I was pretty impressed with how he played prior to the injury late in the season. If we could get him with the early 3rd pick, than Frederick can focus on OG and the interior line will be set.

Follow those moves up with a Clabo/Winston pickup and all the sudden the OL is a strength, IMO.
If we sign a tackle after getting both Frederick and Jones, I'll do cartwheels from here to Cowboys stadium.

And in the process, you may lose some of your access to Pac-12 football.

You're gonna be 2 hours ahead now, so unless you're willing to stay up late, you'll be missing out on some of your beloved west coast games.

Fair enough, but with two 3rd round picks, I think he's worth taking a shot on.

Both he and Frederick would have C/G versatility (although given Frederick's smarts I'd want him making the calls at C) and I have no doubt in my mind that both could come in this year and beat out both Costa and Bernadeu.

Say we do take Jones and we hit on that pick. We'd be solidified along the line for a long time.

He's not the only quality lineman left on the board so we could achieve the same result with another quality prospect, I just happen to like Jones and think he can be a solid starter in this league.
Schwenke is a guy we have been linked to and he could provide good value for us in the 3rd.

I love Schwenke...I think the run on OL is over for a bit though, wait until the 3rd.

I'd love Logan in the 3rd, at 47 it's a bit of a reach but I still like the player.

I'd rather we go Kawann Short if he's there.

As an aside, you should all just prepare yourselves now that one of these 3 picks will be either a RB or WR, it's inevitable. I'm just hoping for the best out of the other two picks.

I agree...but we seem to like Logan and it kind of fits what we are doing in this draft.

I know you're a Marshall guy so I understand, but the criticism from everyone else is much ado about nothing.
But I really liked Tavon Austin. I think he could be special.

So I'm not completely blinded by hatred.

And if you've seen a lot of wvu games like I have, when the wheels came off last season after the great start, every other camera shot of Geno was standing on the sidelines by himself, raging or pouting.

Oops.

As an aside, you'll get to enjoy a bunch of Big Ten (12) football. Normally, that wouldn't be all that interesting, but Urban Meyer should have a really intriguing Buckeyes team now that they are bowl eligible again.

I think this is probably right, though I don't know that they weren't prepared as much as they could be. The other deal obviously fell through, and Jerry didn't think Floyd was the guy. Are we sure (well, internet "sure" anyway) that it was Floyd that Ciskowski wanted? Are we sure that Garrett and/or Ciskowski didn't want Eifert? There was a lot of smoke on that name, so I wonder if he wasn't the top guy for either Garrett or Ciskowski at that point.

I agree with your point about Jerry not getting too cute. There probably was an opportunity to bail on the first completely for a team trying to get back in, and given the unprecedented run on offensive linemen, who knows what would be left if we traded down further.

We got a starter for the interior of the oline and picked up a third. That's acceptable.
I think it was Eifert too because Garrett looked like a pissed off child afterwards. I don't think Floyd was ever in the discussion because he isn't a fit for this defense. I'm not sure he is a great fit for any defense but I could see him being more of a 3-4 DE even with the short arms. Eifert on the other hand supposedly had an elite grade from us and I could see Garrett thinking in his mind that he could so some ultra creative stuff with him.

Obviously, the players left on the board makes all the difference, but I really do not want RB, WR, TE, LB, or CB with either of the next two picks.

West Virginia QB Geno Smith has decided to remain in New York and will be attending the draft tonight in Radio City Music Hall.

I am fully prepared for a 2nd round pick that dumbfounds us all.

I can't remember the last time this board wasn't pissed about what we did in the 2nd round, but I'm hoping this team surprises me and makes a good pick.

The thing is...if they had Frederick as their 21st guy on the board they got what they want. They had Lee much higher than most had him too and he worked out well. Not homering, but if you go by your team board then they got a steal by their standards and addressed a real need.
