Only thing on Jones is, supposedly he wasn't a fit for their heavy zone scheme and we'll do more man stuff here.

My biggest hope is that he's someone Adams picked out. Adams seems to be our best new hire, so if he's behind this I'll give it a chance.
Yeah, hey are betting on his projecting Jones to a better fit/place

Actually a little bit, yeah. Edoga could play both guard and tackle in a pinch. I guess that is Asim Richards now, who knows.
I don't know what to think about this OL. Love Smith at LG. I think Beebe is going to be good. Guyton was disappointing, but I still have hope with our new OC and OL coach. Steele played better late in the season, but is much better vs run than pass protection. Hoffman is nasty and all that at RG, but is he starter material?

Then we have Jones, Bass, Asim, Waletzco and Nathan Thomas.

I don't really want to spend a high draft pick on OL this year. I'm really counting on our new staff to coach these guys up.

I'm sure Adams and the new OL coach had a big say in it, especially when a guy Adams coached for a few years in Hernandez was out there.

I'm sure he'll be fine depth but when you have basically one healthy CB and only 4-5 DL capable of playing in a game it seems like whistling past the graveyard.

These sorts of piddly moves should be happening after they address legit holes.

This is probably their answer to the Martin retirement. They think they just filled that hole.

We know this is the best we can hope for these days. This and the Kendricks type.

The lot of them have a touch of mystery to them. Richards looked semi-respectable in preseason. They were excited by what they saw with Thomas in college and promptly stashed him. Bass was first guy off the bench and deserves a shot to take the RG job. Waletzco needs to just go away.

I just hope that both Adams and Riley had time to take a solid look and say, yep, let's go with Robert Jones.

Last two seasons:

DeMarcus Walker - 7 sacks, 16 TFL, 32 QB hits over 1452 snaps
Chauncey Golston - 7 sacks, 6 TFL, 11 QB hits over 1100 snaps
Solomon Thomas - 8.5 sacks, 12 TFL, 12 QB hits over 992 snaps
He is basically the Golston replacement, inside and outside. He is definitely a passing down rotation guy as he is pretty average against the run.

I think he'd hold up well vs. the run in a DE/5T type of role, if they're asking him to stop the run as a pure DT/3T then he's going to get blown out of gaps.

Though he might be successful there in spurts as a rusher

Yea, he's a run down DE and an interior rusher in nickel/dime.

I'd be happy with him as our 3rd best interior rusher but if the plan is to have him and Osa as the main pairing on the interior it's kind of meh. It'll be fine as long as Parsons is around but you'd hope that they would aspire for a dominant pairing in this defensive scheme.

Not a bad signing I guess. Huge bust as a third overall pick comes home as a rotational piece.
