As opposed to hiring a guy like Zimmer now? Exactly my point.

Suck it up. I'm not saying Garrett is the long time answer here, but this isn't a good coaching crop to choose from. Bide your time, get a winning coach in here. If we were proactive it could have been last year but we weren't. Don't compound the error by pulling the trigger on another average coach now, who will then waste 3-4 more years of our time.
I get what you are saying but a year ago at this time, you were saying the same thing.

I get why the timing is poor. Might as well pay the little shit another year because "there aren't any options", but frankly, we are not going to magically get over the hump with him at HC.

He will do his usual and cost us a minimum of two-three games with his poor game management skills.

Don't think I'm agreeing with you that there aren't any good coaches. Shaw or Roman with a DC like Horton (since they will be 3-4 guys) would be a huge step up.

Cmon man, we're talking about the laughingstock of the NFL. Not only did Jerry come out and admit Garrett has been learning on the job and made numerous game blowing goofs he also also said he was training him! And Jason just took it because he knows he won't get another HC gig in the NFL until he works his way up the ranks like he should of had to do to start with.

Last year I would have been just fine with Reid.

We're not talking about the laughingstock of the league, Garrett is not nearly as bad as he's made out to be on this board.

Not good enough, yes, but one of the worst in the league, no.

“We’ve put a lot of effort in training as a franchise into Jason Garrett, and I want to take advantage of that,” Jones said. “If we don’t have him, we don’t get payback for all the miscues and losses and criticism of sideline management."

Yeah, we all agree with that, doesn't change my point that he's not one of the worst coaches in the league.

Technically I'd say you're right, only because he's not really a HC and is just a trainee

And that's where you and pretty much everyone else disagree.

A turd with corn in it and a turd without are still both turds. That's pretty much Jason Garrett and the other bottom feeder coaches in the league. Slight differences, yeah. But still shitty. There is nothing he does that would show he deserves to be in the top half of the league.

Up by 23 at half and we run the ball 7 times in the second half. That is something one of the worst coaches in the league allows to happen.

Me and everyone else.... you mean me and a couple people on this board.

I'm not impressed.
Pretty much. Implies most, not all. Which would include the people you discuss Garrett with on this board.

I have no idea what you talk about with guys and imaginary girls IRL.

Aside from coughlin,
The last 5 Super Bowl champion coaches were not proven commodities before their current stint. No nfl head coaching experience and all young.

John harbaugh
Mike McCArthy
Mike Tomlin
Sean Payton

Don't rain on his parade. They were all "can't miss prospects" or something.

John Harbaugh was a 9 year special team coordinator and position coach. He wasn't some must have HC.
Sorry, my bad. I was thinking Jim. Though duh, he hasn't won a Super Bowl.

I don't remember Payton as being some can't miss HC that was heavily pursued, either. He was the best coach on our staff at the time, but that's not saying much.

He wasn't. We gave him a fat raise to stick around past his first interview just like Garrett but he didn't have a ton of teams knocking down his door. Saints fired a guy who just couldn't get it done and took a gamble on a guy and it paid off. Similar to what everyone here but one person is willing to do.

Ironically, everyone hated Payton when he was here too.

Not saying Garrett = Payton, but the offensive coordinator always takes shit.
