Position coaches don't call plays either and they have plenty of things to do. I imagine an OC even if he isn't calling plays will hold meetings, help develop game plans, watch film of opposing defenses, help hold practices and run drills, and a bunch of other things.
Yeah the OC can still draw up damn plays. He can even suggest plays. He runs the offense essentially during practice.

Your head coach still needs to oversee the entire team. Otherwise why even have a head coach. Just have an OC and a DC.

Wouldn't just offend him. But it would basically chop whatever balls off that he has left. How do the players respect a coach that the team doesn't even want?
Interviews with other coaches would not be disrespectful-corporations do it all the time, especially when a company has had some bumps in the road with current leaders or managers who are being replaced or whose contracts are expiring.

Facts are facts with McCarthy-he’s failed to get the team to a SB and the offense sucked in the RZ under his direction. I blame Jerry for the shit talent acquisition but McCarthy asked to run the offense and claims he had say in the personnel….he has a lot of skin in the game and should be 2nd guessed.

You're telling me companies interview replacements without replacing the employee at the end? I definitely do not think that is normal.

Yes, especially at the very upper levels of the business world but you are missing the key part of what I wrote….if there were problems (financially/employee turnover/drop in sales/etc) during their leadership, I’ve seen corporations interview other candidates when either the said employees contract is up before signing another contract or even when they have the replacement sitting right there in the wings.

All the business training I’ve been to generally are ok with companies turning over rocks to make sure the best person is in the drivers seat to lead into the future especially when there is a track record to look back on. Why would coaching for the most valuable franchise in the world be any different?

You really need to understand that normal sane business practices from the real world never apply with the Joneses.

They live in their own Fantasy Land and it is supremely grotesque.

I thought the title of the thread referenced “normal franchise”.

But you made the grave mistake of bringing in sanity.

We have our own brand of insanity from other teams that is true. But there are a bunch of other franchises ran by in-bred imbeciles, we just don’t pay as much attention.

And where did that get us, asshole?
More than you will ever know.

It taught us that no matter what, suck ups go further and even pretend nepotism matters. Jones got fucking necromanced by that ginger cunt.

With Snyder being kicked out, and the Lions turning it around that list is really starting to narrow.

Or that there just might be a little difference between running an office of pencil pushers to leading a team of athletes where the game relies on not just skill, but emotion and camaraderie. Where more often than not the guys under the supervisor in the office don't give a fuck about him. And in football, you want those guys to be bonded. To want to run through a wall for him. Don't think I've ever heard of ol' Eddie in accounting want to do that for Steve the Supervisor.

You can minimize it all you want, and it’s certainly not about pencil pushers. And if you think today’s athletes care more about running thru a wall than their social media accounts and how much their next contract is then I don’t know what to tell ya.

I'm not sure I can think of an NFL team ever interviewing replacements for their head coach of years and then returning to the guy who already coaches the team. But maybe I'm forgetting examples.

I don't remember other teams holding their coach hostage a week after the season ends, either, but

Thanks.

I was a little worried I wasn't going to get your approval. I feel so much better now.
Hey I definitely want the board asshole to feel as good as he can.

A coach without a contract? That’s an important detail.
