Zeke was a physical specimen too. Big, fast, could cut and jump with the best. He really was the total package at RB. But he loved contact and he loved to party. So it just didn't last. You draft Jeanty because you're hoping to have 3-5 years of greatness to give Dak a chance before the team has to go rebuild with a new QB.

Sure you want a 10+ year player but who knows what things will be like even 3 to 5 years from now. You're really trying to give this team the best shot possible to win the Superbowl now.
I think 3-5 years of greatness and another 2-3 of good to very good play is a reasonable expectation for a RB in the top 15-20.

We would've gotten about that out of Elliott if he weren't a dunce, and also if he wasn't ran into the ground by Garrett.

Elliott was a fucking headcase to begin with.

Surely you all remember.

5 years of greatness might not be much different than other guys. Most players take 2 to 3 years to really reach that elite level. Look at Lamb who really exploded in years 3, 4 and 5. RB is just different because there is no build up. They sort of come in at their peak.

And you think people would be ok with that first bolded part? And that 2nd bolded part is exactly what we were thinking when we took Zeke. Remember, Romo was the QB he was drafted to help win, not Dak.

And Zeke did give us 4 years of greatness before he started to regress. Yet people are crying because Zeke fell off after the years you're pointing out here. After we took Zeke, Jalen Ramsey and DeForrest Buckner were really the only impact player taken in the first. I could see the argument for Buckner, but this place would have melted down if we took Ramsey. And we all knew, we needed a RB. Thinking it was the final piece. And don't give me the "but he was taken at 4, Jeanty would be at 12 or whatever. Bull. It's still a high first round pick.

There's definitely something to Franklin and Penn St. being too cute for their own good, it's why I don't think they're a serious threat to win it all.

I expect Derrick Henry type careers out of first round RBs.

We should have rode Zeke for 5 years and let him walk into the sunset. I think the opinion would be different if we had done that. Holding on to the guy too long at a retarded high price left a bad taste in people's mouths.

Everyone remembers the end and forgets the beginning. It's like Witten. Everyone thinks of him as a slow ass dude with no run after catch. But that's just the end, which wasn't great.

Guys.... Just run the ball.

Slow it down.

Stop trying to force the big play.

Let it come naturally like it did in the first 2 drives.
