He really did play great. I didn't watch every play of his during the game. But it was a boring game so I did watch some of Mazi and he was making Schmitz his bitch. Literally would knock him back and throw him to the side when he had a chance to make a play. It was text book NT stuff. But maybe Schmitz just isn't very good. I don't know.

He was a second rounder that got a little late 1 hype last year so he isn't a complete schlub, but I need to see Mazi play like this somewhat consistently over an extended stretch before I think it's anything more than a random aberration.

It shows that he isn't completely mentally gone though, so that's something.

We have just been spoiled with the automatic success of our first round OL picks.
Yeah I think it's two parts. We just got used to how really special Tyron was at LT for a very long time. And the other part is Guyton is a raw rookie who moved from LT to RT. It's not always going to be sunshine but he wasn't terrible either. And I do think some of the calls were shit. Anytime Guyton knocked the DE down it was a flag.

Yeah flashing is great. But you need consistent effort in every game. It looked like Mazi was playing with effort and passion that I hadn't seen from him in other games. He straight up just looked mean and angry. But then it's like, why wasn't he doing that for the first 3 games? Hopefully this is at least a confidence boost for the guy. Maybe that will be something he could build on.

Overshown is definitely for real, the way he was tackling Nabers cold in space was extremely impressive, as well as the play he made on Robinson 1-on-1 in space to save a TD.

It's amazing to me that he basically got benched for the Saints game when he's pretty clearly our best LB.
Yeah it's not even close. He is by far our best LBer. He actually covers WRs out there sometimes. And frankly does a better job than Booth.

Kendricks is around the ball but feels a tick late or off most of the time. I saw Loofa out there with similar issues. He'd be in great position than just blow making the play. I want to like Clark but frankly most of the time I don't even notice him. Overshown on the other hand looks like a star at LBer for us.

There were some bright spots in this game. Beebe looked great. I know Guyton struggled with penalties but man the refs were not going to give him anything, if the defender was on the ground, it was a hold. Guyton needs to do better getting his hands inside though. He was just bear hugging way too much.

I watch that last run they showed with Beebe and frankly the whole line just bowling defenders backwards and all I can really think about it, how the hell did Zeke not get more out of that run. Why did Zach Martin just lazily block that shit. Zeke ran right to the defender with all kinds of room there still but Martin also just let the dude go like eh, play is over I'll just let the guy go. The older guys on this team really disappoint me.

Fucking really? He got 7 yards on that run. :lol And he got tackled by Martin's guy, who Martin just inexplicably let go.

Unbelievable how some of you guys just criticize Zeke no matter what.

Only 7 yards? Damn you Zeke!

Meanwhile no criticism of Dowdle, who on the other plays basically got exactly what was blocked and nothing more.

Yeah, flags really make a game unwatchable. It just disrupts everything and ruins the flow of a game. I get that you have to officiate a game otherwise there is no point in having rules. But when you're calling back good play after good play with a flag it just sort of makes the actual plays feel pointless. And I get that maybe I feel that way because almost all of those flags were against the Cowboys. But even if the Giants had an equal amount of penalties, just the pure number of penalties makes a game awful.

Yeah I have no problem calling penalties when they are penalties, but the borderline stuff where you have to squint to see it, or ones that aren't even there, when you're constantly calling those it makes for a bad and frustrating watch.
