But you know they won't. You know how Jerry thinks -- if a guy is paid, he expects the player to play to that money. I don't think Jerry would ever pay a guy a record-breaking contract and immediately look to a plan to replace him.
I don't think Romo was that far into his contract when we started to look at other QBs. Of course his body was breaking down so there was a little bit more motivation to do that. Dak was the guy we eventually drafted but we also know Jerry was looking for other options at the time and prior to. They were just all awful options in hindsight.
What we really need to figure out how to do is get more draft capital. It's just so hard to plug holes every year when you're leaking so much water. If you look at this past draft, we needed all the guys we draft. We needed Guyton, we needed Kneeland, we needed Beebe, we needed a LBer (Loofa), we needed Carson.
But we also badly needed a RB. We also badly needed a DT. We also badly needed another WR. We just didn't have the picks to fill all the holes that are created when you let everyone walk in free agency and add no one.
