The best metric to gauge these deals is by AAV as a % of cap and if you look at that Dak is 3rd overall at 23.49%, behind Burrow (24.47%) and just barely behind Allen (23.56%).

Herbert is at 23.35%, Jackson at 23.13% and Mahomes at 22.79%, Hurts is at 22.69% and Murray at 22.14%.

From that perspective the deal is more or less in line with where he should be given that he finished 2nd in MVP voting last year.

Dak doesn't give a fuck about winning because he took as much of the cap as he could get, limiting what the talent can be paid around him that will lead to less talent around him.

That's what bothers me maybe the most out of all this. He didn't need to wring every god damn penny out of the cap.

The simple answer is you need to stockpile draft picks and continue to draft well. It's not that complicated. We were never going to hit free agency and spend 20 mil a year on a player regardless of what Dak did on his contract.

I don’t think any NFL player needs to ”give back”.

Managing the cap and selecting the right talent at the same time is a skill that a franchise is responsible for.

The thing with Brady and the Patriots is so out of the ordinary and it really shows how little is out in the open.

Besides, every dollar in the red for the Joneses pleases me.

It is but there are also Mahomes type deals. That look ridiculously massive at the time but in the end is really helpful to the team.

But everyone has started to go to 4 year deals. No one wants anything longer. And I think the Cowboys penny pinch so bad and for so long that they lose the ability to get some of the structure flexibility they would have if they just came in sort of working with the player.

Are we supposed to pretend that Dak didn't make hundreds of thousands of dollars per year his rookie contract, and tens of millions since then?

This is an absurd reaction.

Times must be real fucking hard when you're only making $600K a year.

Prescott’s agent buttfucked them good.
That ancient fucking hillbilly just drags these things out to stay in the news during the down season. Nothing else makes sense. They end up giving the players what the fuck ever they want anyway.
