Yeah, if that guy is your #1 RB then but only do you not have a #1, you don't have much of a #2 either.
I'm ok not having a real "number 1" but you should have like 3 "number 2s" then. We have a number 2 and then washed up trash and like a #3 in Vaughn.

Not sure I believe this and it seems counterintuitive but...

I believe it. Dak was looking for a shorter contract when he was in his 20s and got it so he could go for another huge one in his early 30s. Now he wants a longer contract because he'll be shot in a few years, probably around 34. He's already had a big decline physically after that ankle injury.

A longer contract would be better for the organization. A 6 year deal could easily just be a 3-4 year deal, then you get rid of him when you find a replacement and the dead money cap hit doesn't kill you because you have a rookie scale QB.

As usual I'm sure dumbass Stephen and his waiter concubine are on the case.

Dallas Cowboys release first unofficial depth chart of season, Ezekiel Elliott listed as starter

The Cowboys have released their first unofficial depth chart of the regular season.

By RJ Ochoa@rjochoa Sep 3, 2024, 3:34pm CDT

We have less than a week to go until the Dallas Cowboys kick off their regular season. Given that we have made it this far, what is a few more days?

Seeing things get going is always exciting as it helps us begin to develop a proper understanding of who the team will be this season. To this point all we have to go off is training camp and preseason action which carry obvious qualifiers. That is no longer the case.

Well... sort of. On Tuesday, the Cowboys released their first unofficial depth chart of the regular season and while it is no longer in the preseason, it is still unofficial.

Some notable takeaways:

Tyler Guyton and Cooper Beebe are both listed as starters at left tackle and center, respectively, which would suggest at least a mild level of seriousness was used in assembling this.

Every other offensive player is the logical starter

  • Ezekiel Elliott is listed as the starting running back
  • Maris Liufau is slotted ahead of DeMarvion Overshown on defense
  • Caelen Carson is starting opposite of Trevon Diggs
  • Rico Dowdle, not Deuce Vaughn, is listed as the primary backup kick returner

Perhaps the most controversial thing here is in fact the listing of Ezekiel Elliott as the “starter” at running back. While this could be posturing from the front office with a true intention to play Rico Dowdle ahead of him, it is again worth noting that literally every other starter listed across the team makes sense. Why would the Cowboys disguise the running back position and that one alone? Who knows.

Nevertheless, this does mark another next step to things beginning on Sunday. We continue to count down the days.

Cowboys' Jerry Jones Ripped by NFL Agent; 'I Think the Game Has Passed Him By'

This is the key quote and it's exactly what most of us have been saying for a while: "I don't think they want to win above all," the agent said when ranking the Cowboys as the most unstable franchise in the league. "Jerry (Jones) wants to turn profits and make headlines."

It's the main reason I don't really care as much anymore, I just don't believe they're desperate to win. Of course they want to win but it's not their top priority.

Both Jerry and Stephen want to maximize revenue of course, although most of that is baked in, while Jerry wants to showboat in the media and run his mouth, and Stephen wants to tinker with his little bullshit cap games.

Winning comes after those priorities.
Of course they don’t want to win above anything else. Fans just need to ask themselves what has Jerry and Tardo Stephen done in the last 3-5 seasons to show they are all in?
