Agreed. Jerry's 81. They are both running out of time. Maybe you get lightning in a bottle, maybe you get a mess. I don't think you'll get an in-between like we do now.Maybe, but it's worth a shot.
How do you table the GM discussion without tabling the Dak discussion? And if you table those two discussions, every other discussion -- draft picks, FAs, trades, etc. -- is completely pointless, meaningless, a waste of oxygen.Nothing will change while Dak is here.
Frankly, nothing is gonna change while Jerry is here.
But if we table the GM discussion, the next most blameworthy individual is the QB, not the coach.
Well, that's true. How do you table the GM discussion without tabling the Dak discussion? And if you table those two discussions, every other discussion -- draft picks, FAs, trades, etc. -- is completely pointless, meaningless, a waste of oxygen.
Amen. It's the savior syndrome that prevails in so many posts. We need someone, anyone, anything to save us from Jerry. This may be an unpopular take, but I want nothing to do with Belichick. If we move on let's go with a younger coach.
So if he hired arguably the best coach of all time, you'd hate it.Amen. It's the savior syndrome that prevails in so many posts. We need someone, anyone, anything to save us from Jerry.
Belichick is a retread at this point. Don't know of Vraebel fits that category or not. But whoever it is, Jerry's going to finally have to turn the keys over, and he won't do that.
I don't think it's unfair to be pessimistic about Belichick at this point. So if he hired arguably the best coach of all time, you'd hate it.
And if he hired a young unproven kid like Slowik you'd hate it.
Most of us hate Jerry, but at least try to be somewhat fair and reasonable about it.
It will if he is going to go after a high profile coach.
RIght. What should happen and what will happen are completely different things. Jones will continue the eternal optimism and desire to keep guys "he" drafted well beyond their expiration date.It will if he is going to go after a high profile coach.
Honestly, I don't see anything happening. I don't think Jones has it in him to mash the reset button at this stage in his life with a coach like Belichick. It just would not make a lot of sense.
Props. My dad uses that term in that way, as his dad did.Honestly, I don't see anything happening. I don't think Jones has it in him to mash the reset button at this stage in his life with a coach like Belichick. It just would not make a lot of sense.
Jerry's been putting the screws to fans for 30 years. He doesn't deserve any fairness. Any other GM with his record would have been fired five time over. But he stays because he can, and fans pay the price for his insufferable ego. What's fair about that?So if he hired arguably the best coach of all time, you'd hate it.

Any coach we could get would still have to deal with the real issue and that is the engrained organizational culture that is as predictable as the sun rising and setting.I doubt Jerry actually wants to fire McCarthy, but not for the right reasons.
I think he's lazy and comfortable enough that he won't do a real evaluation of what needs to change. He'll practice some speeches in front of the mirror to hoodwink the media and the suckers about how so-and-so gives us the best chance to win and that'll be that.
The reality is that things DO need to change and the GM isn't interested in making any of those changes that matter.
The only way I'm ok with changing the coach is that if the coach is an impediment to making the other changes (GM, QB) that need to be made.
Otherwise I think this coach is as good as it gets for us.
Good points dude. Never considered that before.Jerry's been putting the screws to fans for 30 years. He doesn't deserve any fairness. Any other GM with his record would have been fired five time over. But he stays because he can, and fans pay the price for his insufferable ego. What's fair about that?
Well, he ain't dead yet, so what is your point?Jerry's been putting the screws to fans for 30 years. He doesn't deserve any fairness. Any other GM with his record would have been fired five time over. But he stays because he can, and fans pay the price for his insufferable ego. What's fair about that?
It doesn't matter which coach he hires because his model is doomed to failure and he won't change it. How fair is that?
Fuck him and fuck fair.
That's because he is on the cutting edge of original ideas. He has only been tellilng us 592 times and there is no way we would have ever thought about that years ago.Good points dude. Never considered that before.
