The numbers are in.

Cowboys-Seahawks ‘Thursday Night Football’ clash was most-streamed NFL game in history

By Richard Deitsch and The Athletic Staff

The “Thursday Night Football” clash between the Dallas Cowboys and the Seattle Seahawks averaged 15.26 million viewers, making it the most-watched game ever on Prime Video and the most-streamed NFL game in history, according to a release shared by Amazon.

At its peak, 17.76 million viewers tuned into the game, which the Cowboys went on to win 41-35. The first half featured 41 combined points and the drama of the high-scoring affair peaked with a Dallas fourth-quarterback comeback.

Amazon Prime Video Sports just sent over a 10,000-word press release (TBH: it was a slightly shorter) but the key numbers:
Cowboys-Seahawks averaged 15.26 million viewers, most-watched game ever on Prime Video — and most-streamed NFL game in history.

The previous highest-streamed game came in Week 2, when the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Minnesota Vikings in front of an average of 15.05 million viewers.

Making sense of those numbers
Though Amazon had worked with the NFL Network and Fox on “Thursday Night Football” since 2017, the real question was how would the company do when it became an exclusive partner in 2022 — the first time a streaming service received a full package of NFL games exclusively. We are now getting our answer. The Cowboys are always going to draw — and this game was very competitive — but 15.26 million viewers is a fantastic non-Sunday viewership number. Through 11 weeks, TNF is averaging 12.58 million total viewers, excluding the Black Friday game, an increase of 29 percent versus last season’s 11-game average on Prime Video (9.74 million). Customers are clearly becoming more comfortable viewing NFL games via a streaming product.

Amazon spent a lot of money on its NFL production (which was probably wise given the $1 billion annual rights fee) and it shows in the product. Whether you like or dislike the on-air people is always going to be subjective (same thing as liking or hating me as a writer). But on a week to week basis, Amazon offers a proof of concept of NFL production that matches what we have seen with the networks (outside of a few minor hiccups). Per Sports Media Watch: Five TNF games this season have averaged more viewers than last year’s high, 13.03 million for Amazon’s debut telecast (Chargers-Chiefs). That’s very impressive.

It's hilarious to me how much Eagles fans are crying about officiating when there isn't a single team in the league that has been the beneficiary of that more than they have.

Fuck those whiney bitches.
For someone in the league office, a day of reckoning is coming about NFL officiating. I've seen 6 or 8 articles at least in the last few days bitching about the zebras. First, the sheer number of flags in the Cowboys/Seahawks game, then stories about how the refs' calls are affecting outcomes of games. The calls at the end of the Chiefs/Packers game were horrendous, and at one point in the the Atlanta/Jets game there were six flags thrown over a span of 8 plays.

I don't know what the league can about it, but they'll have to do something. The worst possible scenario for the NFL has to do with the growth of gambling. It's just a matter of time till the looney conspiracy theories out there now take hold among even rational, intelligent people.

Or some lowly paid part time official gets busted for gambling.

IMHO a lot of people watching that game yesterday could conclude that Hurts effectively lost that game. His whole act of dropping back, waiting, waiting, believing he can salvage any play with some feat of athleticism, backfired. Pass rushers who stay in their lanes, a secondary that blankets receivers, stuffed that tactic.

Hurts hurts that team more than a lot of people seem to want to acknowledge. He has a couple useful attributes if you have pieces around him that allow you to hide him, but he's not good.

That said, their defense is extremely vulnerable and both Hurts and the defense lost them that game (the defense gave up 42 and was the number 1 culprit).

Is it fair to kick someone when they're down?
When it's Garrett? Always.

But just to show I'm harsh but fair, I actually think he's way better at color commentator than studio host, with his stupid over-rehearsed smile and fake coach-voice.

Not that he doesn't suck at that too, he's just better.

agreed. He probably annoyed other people a lot less than he did Cowboys fans

His whole act even as a HC seemed forced and over-rehearsed.

The guy is just weird.

His final numbers would fool most people into thinking he played a good game but most of those yards came during garbage time.

Someone pointed out that over 100 of those yards came later in the game after they were already down three scores.

Saw an article that he might be in the running for the Duke job (article was 4 days ago so maybe they moved on). Poor Smitty. He wouldn't know what to do.
