I've never said he's Tony Banks or "not a starting caliber QB."

He's just a painfully average one.

And yes we should be actively seeking to upgrade because, otherwise, we are stuck in this cycle of going nowhere. Yeah, most teams don't have elite QBs. Most teams also aren't year-in, year-out playoff contenders. Most teams are stuck in the mediocre middle for a long time, just like us.

The problem is that "a long time," is, for us, turning into a generational thing.

It's time to get creative, to think outside the box, to stop accepting "we are a playoff team, let's just get in the dance and hope we get lucky."

That doesn't work for us. At some point we have to make some luck. Even upgrading to one of the best coaches in football hasn't really moved the needle. We are a wildcard team that can't really hang with the big boys. But yay, at least we make that wild card round every year (and then lose).

As such, there's really not such a thing as "too much," to give up. Time for a change. Do something that is unconventional. Accept the risk that it may not work, and if it doesn't, be prepared to do something unconventional again. We aren't risking anything. All we are risking is the last 4-5 years of what, the mediocre Prescott era? Oh no, we are going to waste the prime of Tony Pollard's career?

I'm not afraid of a tear down and start from scratch if that is what it takes. How is that worse than all of the zero divisional round wins we have had in the past 30 years?
I think Daks biggest issue is he doesn’t see the field like an upper tier QB. It’s never really gotten any better so at this point in his career we have what we have.
He’s also not very accurate.

Agree. You could make the case that Dak peaked his rookie year and never really got better.

I knew that shit didn't look right last night. Otherwise you'd have teams purposely doing it every week.

The only gray area is the term "passive player". Makes me wonder if they're saying this rule doesn't apply because a Cowboys player was actively blocking.
Tolbert was engaged in a block, which means he was not passive, which means the kicking team can push him into the returner. Most special teams players know not to go anywhere near your returner, especially when he’s calling for a fair catch.

I don't get how they would consider anybody on kick return as a passive player. Either you're catching the ball or you are either actively blocking somebody, or running to find somebody to block.

It's always the scheme, isn't it? Isn't it odd that the Schottenheimer offense, err, the McCarthy offense, is the same as the Moore offense, errr, the Garrett offense? Only one constant across FOUR different offensive coaches.

Maybe it's the QB is incapable of running a modern scheme and they know it.

This.

She wasn’t even in the stadium. Disneyland, which owns ESPN, and their movie studios are minutes away
Disneyland isn’t anywhere near SoFi Stadium. They’re like 35-40 miles away from each other. Which, in L.A. traffic can mean 1 1/2 - 2 hours.

The funny thing is Chargers fans are saying the exact same thing about Herbert.

It’s always scheme and the OC’s fault when it comes to his struggles.
