One complaint I do have from today, aside from our lack of a consistent running game, (which is our biggest problem in the redzone, imo) is our over reliance on the WR screen. Once or twice a game, I can see. But it seemed we were calling that almost every possession there for awhile.

If we insist on running screens, which for the most part I like, throw more of them to the backs. Pollard, Deuce, even Leupke. I think they'd feast. You can almost tell by our formations when a screen is coming to the WRs. And if we can see it, you damn well know a professional D coordinator can.

This is the assessment that I think is fair and accurate.

We're not frauds and we're not a bad team like some people would have you believe, but just how good are we? It's hard to really say after these four games but I think we'll get a much clearer understanding after next week's game.

With that being said, I do believe we are one of the three best teams in the NFC.

Which would explain why defenders were on top of our receivers so quickly after the catch.

I told you guys this about Leupke since his senior year at NDSU. That we needed him.

Maybe now you guys will accept me for the football savant I am, and never again question anything I say. :art

One small thing, tho. He wasn't just a short yardage and redzone specialist in school. The dude would straight up dominate games all over the field. I realize it's a pretty big jump from NDSU to the NFL. But the guy has skills we should be using. He is a lot better receiving back than people realize. And we're seeing he has a little wiggle in the running game, too. And he can block.

I hate to compare him to The Moose. So I won't. There may never be another Moose. But I think Leupke can be the best FB type player we've had here since then.
Maybe more Mike Alstott than Moose.

I remember Alstott being a hammer running the ball, but not much of him as a receiver. Was he good at it? I honestly don't remember.

And I know he was there the same time as Warrick Dunn. Did he lead block for him? I don't remember that, either.
