Jerry Jones is disappointed by first-half record but encouraged about the rest of the season

Owner Jerry Jones is disappointed in the Cowboys' 4-4 record, but he is encouraged with where they are and waht they have in front of them. The Cowboys' losses have been by 14 total points, including a 9-point loss to the Chargers, and three of those were road games.

The teams the Cowboys have lost to are a combined 24-7.

"I am very disappointed," Jones said on his weekly radio show on KRLD-FM 105.3. "I take no solemn that our losses... were by five points or less [actually nine or less]. We’ve got to keep our eye on what we’re doing, of course, this Sunday, but we’ve got to keep our eye on continuing to win games. This thing is going to come down to the end, and you could have a situation like Baltimore did last year. They didn’t look like they were it. They weren’t playing very well. We missed beating them by a 6-inch field goal, to refresh our memory, and they end up in the world championship. We’re continuing to have some injury that will impact that, too. But we’ve just got to keep dealing with what we’re dealing with.

"I want to be very positive, though. We’re sitting here with probably as good a chance, although we’re absent some players – but other teams are too – we’re sitting here with as good a chance to be where we want to be as we did when we started the season."

The Cowboys' remaining opponents are 25-33, with only three opponents sporting a winning record.

The NFC East is a combined 11-20, with the Cowboys holding a one-game lead over the Eagles, who have lost two in a row.

Here we go again. Now we're getting the "but Baltimore did it" story. A couple of years ago it was "but look at what the Giants did" and then it was "look at the Packers" and going all the way back to the late '90s when it was " but look how the Rams went from 5-11 to the SB."

Funny how none of that was relevant to the Cowboys. But good ol Jerruh isn't going to give up trying to build up hope in the interest of selling tickets and merchandise.

But he brings it up anyway.

I hope he's encouraged. Then he'll be even more disappointed in our failure down the stretch. If he was already making excuses like injuries, mid be more worried about continuity this offseason.

Feh.

He can be "disappointed" and talk about woodsheds and making people uncomfortable, but it is just bullshit.

Probably, but still better odds of change after those comments than excuse making and sunshine pumping.

I still want them to make the playoffs. I know it may hold up Garrett being gone, but I'll take what I can get.

Yah... I've watched them choke seasons away and hoped JJ would do some serious house-cleaning. He never does. Guess since JJ won't do anything drastic to actually help this team-- I'll pull for them to make the playoffs and pull a miracle out of their ass.

I think we all hope Jones would grab a broom and clean house but the sad truth is he really doesn't know how. Everything he does is tied to marketing, If it doesn't fit in there, he is lost.
