Agreed. Which is why I'm confused when I've seen refs allow the offense to run the play and even decline the penalty to take the result of the finished play.

I believe you are noticing the difference between offensive and defensive 12 men.

The offense cannot have 12 men in the huddle. As soon as they do that, it's a penalty and a dead ball. No play.

The defense CAN have 12 men on the field up until the snap, so that they can make substitutions. So it's not a penalty until the snap, and at that point if there are still 12 or more defensive players the offense has the option of taking the result of the play or the penalty.

Are we still posting inspirational speeches?

If they are considered "in formation" on defense with 12 men on the field it can be blown dead as well.

I'm pretty sure I've seen 12 men called on defense pre-snap before.

Damn....that was a hell of a play by Luck.

OMG Moncrief did the throat slash. Fine.

They do a number of dumb things out here in East Texas. Damn I need to get back to the Metroplex....

There are alot of dumbasses out there for sure, but I can't wait until I retire and move back.

American Sniper is a movie I want to see a lot.

So I don't have cable, so I just spent about half an hour and about 7 feet of tin foil setting up an outdoor antenna.

I find it funny that they call it the best movie of the year...when it is being released in Jan.

I hope it's good, Eastwood has been in a slump.

:towel

Nice play by Toler to foil the trickery.

Yeah, I was raised in East Texas. As soon as I retire it will either be central or East Texas where I settle.
