Who wore No. 8 better, Young or Aikman?

My point is exactly what I said. It would chap some asses if Switzer won as many SBs as Johnson.

It would. But then, I didn't think there was any real threat of that happening.

Almost like thinking Fat Frick Wade was capable of taking us beyond a bye week 'victory' in his first season.

As close as we came to winning in 94, there was definitely a threat of that happening. We had some key injuries that year, the ones listed plus Kevin Smith, some horrid early turnovers that lead to a big deficit, and we still nearly pulled it out.

I'll hand it to Switzer that he was smart enough to coast. A guy like Chan Gailey would have tried to change everything and force everyone to fit his "System"

See how quickly the Switzer haters come out. :art

Young was scary back there when he was running and passing.

The only thing scary about Troy was his stupid face.

You are crazy if you even have Young sniffing Aikman's jock.

Call me crazy, but only Aikman's leadership could've held that team's ego in check.

Aikman was pretty aloof for the most part. I have seen him in dozens of games where he would retreat to an empty spot on the sidelines and stay there until it was time to go back in the game. He wasn't a teammate mixer.

The only thing Aikman could lead were his ass cheeks to Fire Island. Irvin was the leader of that team.

The best thing about that was that Aikman didn't fight for top dog spot with Irvin, he didn't try to pressure the offensive coaches to feature the pass more, he just showed up and did his job.

That's cherry picking. Aikman was known for yelling at black people.

I effing hated Steve Young with a passion and kind of still do with his insolent hair.

But I can't sit here and say, yup, Troy was better hands down.

Both with different kind of players. Aikman was the most accurate passer I have ever seen. He also had outstanding chemistry with Irvin/Novacek and ran Turner's offense magnificently. Young could create plays and honestly could take over games.

Some might disagree, but we beat those 49er teams back then because we had the better team, not the better QB.

I'd still prefer Aikman because he was part of that team. All in all, it's dumb to compare individuals like there is a right answer.

It is like thinking Staubach would have had the same success winning SBs in Pittsburgh as Bradshaw did. Different QBs asked to do different things within the systems they were in.

Don't get me wrong, I despised Young and Rice and that white-haired dickhead Seifert with a passion, and still do. When I see Young pontificating on ESPN, it still makes me want to throw my shoe through the TV.

But at no point did I think Troy was even on the same planet as Young was. Like I said Young was scary back there when he had it going.

What an ignorant statement. Young was clearly ahead of Aikman in mobility. Any other aspect of being a QB is at least arguable to which would be better.

Quincy Carter wasn't "on the same planet" as Young. To say the same about Aikman/Young is retarded.

I think both players were products of the great teams they were on. Aikman needed a run-first offense and great blocking because of his lead feet. Young needed a West Coast Offense and Jerry Rice turning 5 yard passes into long TDs because his skill set was more feet than arm.

I know it won't happen but the next time Aikman goes into one of his holier than thou rants about how Player X shouldn't yell at his teammates, I'd love to see FOX throw up a clip of him screaming like a mad man at his teammates along the sideline.

There's plenty of footage to choose from so it shouldn't be too hard to put together a short clip.

There isn't any conceivable metric where Aikman comes out ahead. Not one. Not TDs, not yards, not INT%, not completion %, not MVPs, nothing. He had three SBs because he had the better team. No one but biggest dummy would have taken Aikman over Young or Favre or damn near anyone else with a pulse. No one ever considered him the best QB of his era at any time.

So you can take your 'ignorant statement' and shove it up your homer arse.

Shove it up my homer arse, eh? So is this where I counter with you shoving your 'conceivable metrics' up yours, fuzzy?

And I never once said I considered him the best QB of his era. I was talking about the ignorant "same planet" line.

I kind of agree with Boberts.

To me Aikman was the ultimate bus driver QB. The team was set up where he wasn't required to do too much.

Just keep the train moving along the tracks.

I'm not trying to slam the guy but that's just how I saw him. He was the 90's version of Phil Simms, IMO.

Exactly. Steve Young dinked and dunked his way in the WC offense and had the greatest WR ever to play the game at his disposable. He was a good QB.

But I'll take Aikman, who could make every throw and was a master in the timing offense Norv Turner used. 3 SB's to 1 makes it pretty easy.
