Week 8 Gameday Chatter | Redskins vs. Cowboys| 10/26/2014

Under normal circumstances. This was a third string QB.

When you factor in his completion percentage and all the missed tackles, it's tough to say they had a good day.

No not a good day at all but I don't think they were the number one issue.

Last week at this time, people were talking about the superbowl on this board. Now, we might not make the playoffs.

:lol

I'm still on the SB wagon. Dallas looks as good as any NFC team so far. Most have lost more games than Dallas so it's not panic time yet.

Same people?

Either way, any SB talk with this team this week or last would be amusing. And right now, 4-4 the 2nd half is probably our high water mark. 10-6 may get us in the playoffs but it's no guarantee.

The funny thing is this is the game we got more sacks then we have all year. The defense had a bad game. I think they had a bad game because they did things much worse then they usually do. They tackled much worse then usual. They covered much worse then usual. The defensive game plan was much worse then usual.

This is absolutely a defensive performance I expect the defense to bounce back from. It wasn't a lack of talent, it was just a bunch of guys having a really bad day.

Yeah, no way I see that as best case. Worst case, yeah.

I wouldn't even call it worst case. You never know what can happen. Injuries, or whatever.

But to call it best case is retarded.

This team can go as far as the coaches' committment to the run takes it. We can easily go 6-2 again if we go back to what got us a 6 game winning streak in the first place. We need 25-30 rushing attempts per game. If we do that, we will win a lot more than we lose.

All probably true; but we did run the ball about 24 times in this game. TOP and the inability to get of the field on 3rd down, were the reasons we lost IMO. 21 minutes TOP in 2nd half to Washington and a backup to a backup completing about 85% of his passes were not helpful.

I think 4-4 is pretty realistic.

4 division games left. Maybe we split.

The others are AZ, Chicago, Indy, and Jax. I could see 2-2 pretty easily there.

Best case we win 3 in division (highly doubt we sweep), take 3 of the rest and finish 12-4. We have to play smarter than we did the other night, though.

We had a ton of opportunities to run with less than 5 to go after a good first down run, several times in crucial situations late in the game, when the Redskins were showing no ability to stop Murray. I don't think the Redskins could have stopped 3 consecutive runs from converting a first down at any time in the 4th quarter or OT.

The defense wasn't great, but it held the skins to 17 in regulation. If you stay patient and run the ball more to keep TOP even you dominate that game in the second half.

We can try to sneak in 5 or 6 carries to Randle in the first half of games, but when we're in crunch time, Murray needs to carry the team on his back. 19 carries for Murray won't win us many games.

It's a shame that's not great for Murray in the long term, but I bet if you ask him he'll tell you he wants the ball and wouldn't mind going for 2k yards and being the league MVP. Like all NFL athletes, he'll deal with the physical consequences later.

I think overall the D was quite bad; but I do agree with your ascertain that Washington would not have stopped the running game late on, especially on 2nd-2 in OT. Missed opportunity, but I also think lucky things happened in Rams and Texans game. So, I will take 6-2 and then hope for best.

the D only gave up 17 points, but didn't help the offense with field position. i think we only started past the 30-yard line once. some blame can be placed upon punt return team as well

you're an idiot if you think i have ever called for the Super Bowl this year. you've personally blasted me for trying too hard for being pessimistic.

First, I've never accused you of trying too hard at being pessimistic. When I said you try too hard, it was geared towards you trying too hard to be funny.

Second, speaking of idiot... Read that quote again. Nowhere in there did I say that YOU had been talking superbowl. I said that people were talking about it, meaning that it had come up in discussions. Which is true. It was just a general statement about the wide swing between your statement of missing the playoffs and previous talk of the superbowl only a week prior.

You talking to me?

Hopefully that's true on both sides of the ball.

If there's anything to take from this, it's that you don't have the feeling that they can't go back to running the ball really well.

Yeah, Garrett never gets cute with backup QBs playing.
