That's what I would do.

Sit them this week and hopefully get them back for the more important game vs the Giants the following week.
 
I thought both our safeties played well yesterday.

I know we always have to point back at our past to somehow rationalize how good our current players are. Irvin and Dez played in different eras, so their comparison means nothing...it is how he is against his contemporaries.

If we are going to make comparisons of old players and current then Romo is the greatest QB in Cowboys history. No QB was ever asked to carry the team more than he has...and I don't see that being kicked around now.

Foster makes a huge difference for them. Of course the goddamned Giants played them without him. He helps Treebeard at QB pick his moments and not fuck up so much. If they had a QB, I'd say they would take their soft-assed division. They may still.

They're not beating out the Colts for that division.
 
Booze is right, though - this is a game you just move on from. No one is saying we should've blown the Texans out, but we should've had a 10-17 point lead throughout the game.

We won, unlike the steelers vs buccaneers, and should put this game behind us without much rah-rah.

We did leave significant points on the field. The fumble and the pick were big.

Especially since we went -2 in turnovers. I will cherish those two great pass plays for a long time, so can't quite forget this game.

Yea, but Foster ran it well yesterday and all they mustered was 17 points.

On a short week coming off a tough loss, I can't see them scoring the 24 or more points that'll be required to beat the Colts.

Probably right. Good timing for Indy after such a physical game for Houston, though I can see JJ Watt aggressively trying to get that Romo play out of his system.
 
I feel like the Cowboys got away with one yesterday. That game had a lot of the ingredients that often add up to a loss. I honestly thought that when Bailey missed that field goal the Cowboys were probably going to lose in OT because of the way Foster was gashing the defense. Fortunately the D got a stop and Dez Bryant made a Dez Bryant type of play to bail them out.

There are some concerns going forward that were apparent in that game and it's easy to say that they'll lose more than they'll win if every game goes that way (i.e., two red zone turnovers and a fumbled punt), but it's also kind of pointless. Every game won't go that way. This one did and they still got the win. Guaranteed every team that makes the playoffs is going to have one or two of those "got away with one" wins.

The Cowboys have put themselves in a nice situation. They desperately need Carter and McClain to get healthy so I agree with those who say take the cautious approach and sit them this week if that's what's best. McClain…wow. Every week he continues to impress.

They still have to prove that they can get through the entire season without floundering down the stretch. If they stay relatively healthy they're in a little bit better position to do that this year than they have been the past couple. For now it's nice to see them sitting at 4–1.

My guess is that Fitzpatrick struggles again this week and they make the move to Mallet for the following game since he'll have 9 days to get ready.
 
Something that hasn't been touched on. In overtime, the Texans were at midfield and facing a 3rd and 2. They were facing a defense that was on it's heels, and missing it's run stopping MLB due to injury. They had a RB that had been gashing the defense for large chunks of yards. So what do they do? Go shotgun/empty backfield and split Arian Foster out wide.

WTF?

How pissed would we have been if that would have been Garrett that done that? I was stunned when I saw them line up for that 3rd down play. No excuse for that. They should have continued to push our defense down the field. We got lucky with their OC going full retard at the worst time.

O'Brien is calling plays if I am not mistaken...and he strikes me as a guy who thinks he is smarter than everyone in the room. I thought it was dumb to start out the game so pass heavy. Maybe they were trying to ease Foster back in, but they went empty quite a bit all day.

Oh, it's definitely been touched on down in this neck of the woods. :lol

Out of all the Texans' fans complaints from yesterdays game, that play call is the biggest, and they have every right to for the reasons you already mentioned.

It's one of those where you're glad the other team did something stupid and move on.

Foster seemed to hit the right gap at the right time. Our LBers were blitzing through the wrong hole twss on a regular basis.
 
I think being able to win ugly is an important trait for a team. We are not going to be able to rely on our defense to hold a lead this season so I anticipate more games like this

I think he only got about 65 yards.
