Week 15 Gameday Chatter | Cowboys vs. Eagles | 12/14/2014

The problem is the Eagles only have the Redskins and Giants.

They are coming off two back breaking losses and I don't see Sanchez looking good against Haslett's approach of loading the box to stop the run and blitzing. Not saying they should lose to Washington, but they might.

I don't think the Eagles are going to have it easy at Washington or New York.

With the Eagles coming off of 2 straight losses, they could be a bit fragile going into those games so a bad start could haunt them for the entire game.

I liken the Cowboys to basically every NBA game. You know the team that is down is going to make a run at the end, just have to hope the opposing team wears themselves out in the comeback. We had a big part in wearing them out at the end though...Mincey and Crawford took it over.

While the line wasn't great in run blocking and Murray didn't have his best night, he did get 31 carries and it was big for us that we got to stay with the run for the entire game.

This 3 game stretch is going to clinch it for them:

Detroit vs Atlanta 24-23
Detroit vs New Orleans 22-21
Detroit vs Miami 20-16

And then the dominating performance yesterday:
Detroit vs Vikings 16-14

Even if we go out and beat the dog shit out of the colts. I'll be terrified going into Washington.

It's too perfect of a setup, to achieve optimal fan despair.

Kneejerk Observation:
I don't think the gameplan was much different from our Thanksgiving ass-kicking - difference was:

1. Execution of Dez Bryant winning 1-on-1 battles. With our offense stymied in the 2nd half, Romo throws up two hope-and-a-prayer passes that we're fortunate Dez pulls down for 2 TDs.
2. Favorable penalties that turned 4th to 1st downs. Enabled us probably an additional ~15 points.
3. Of course, getting 4 turnovers and the defense sacking/INTing Sanchez in the final 5 minutes.

Hope and a prayer passes?

Did you watch the same game I did, because nothing about those passes were hope and prayer.

Good grief.

Fortunately our mentality doesn't affect the team. The fact we have 10 wins and haven't clinched a playoff spot, and likely won't clinch even at 11-5 since we lose a tiebreaker with every other contending team, just seems like the typical "suck em in and then burst their bubble" deal like we see every year.

This team and year could be different, but I'll believe it when I see it. Just unreal we enter December at 8-4 and probably have to go 4-0 down the stretch just to make the playoffs.
.

Unreal yes, but just as unreal, that if we DO, we might get a bye or even homefield.

I don't think it is a given that the Eagles win both games. The Giants are playing pretty well right now and I could see the Skins loving to play the spoiler role. I'd be surprised if Philly won both games.

They will win both, so we will have to too.

One interesting thing to consider...I don't think the Eagles longterm QB solution is on their roster right now...I am curious to see how that plays out.

Agreed. How the hell could you replicate that single play so perfectly 3 times just lobbing it up and hoping for the best.

Romo was en fuego. The major difference in this game.

Come on. The Eagles should roll through Washington and are fully capable of beating the Giants too.

Not that all things are equal at this point of the season, but Philly didn't roll through Washington their first game.

They certainly can beat those teams, but we should have beaten Washington too. I wouldn't discount the possibility that they will suffer a letdown after two tough losses.

Another thing to take into account...if they go back to Foles, how does that change the dynamic...should we just expect him to come back and be sharp? He was not lighting it up to begin with.
