And there's where you're hung up. For some ungodly reason, you think there are only a few of these mythical guys out there. Which is strange, considering the guy has proven time and time again he is in over his head. He's not good. At all. I'm not even sure there is one thing that he might be better at than anybody else. Besides spewing canned responses over and over. But that highly sought after skill doesn't really help much in the win/loss column.

There's only a few that we know of that could succeed here, that's the truth.

While there are others, they are needles in haystacks and with Jerry doing the looking, the odds are stacked against us.

It's the reality we deal with given our GM handicap.

I'm not even sure there is one thing that he might be better at than anybody else.

For me, it's about timing. When our offense sucks, our defense does great. When the offense is scoring TDs, our defense gives it right up. Not even game-to-game, but within games like the Lions game.

Other teams may score less, but their offense/defense is in sync, leading to more victories.
 
Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson wouldn't have been considered upgrades. No prior NFL head coach experience

A proven winner DID come along, though. Andy Reid was available last year. If you really advocate what you say you do, you should have been screaming to the hills for us to hire him and you should be pissed the fuck off that we didn't. I did, and I am. How about you? No? Oh. Maybe that's because the reality is, you are happy with Garrett and think he's a good coach.

Hell, a proven winner is available RIGHT FUCKING NOW. In fact, at least two are. Jon Gruden and Mike Shanahan. Where's the outrage for not hiring them?

I do know it's true, we just got done with a true loser who leads every team he's with to utter collapse. 1-7 with us followed up by 2-14 with the Texans.

There are plenty of coaches out there who don't preach this and it's a definite negative.

I agree with you we should be looking to replace Garrett, who has simply not been good enough in a Jerry run environment to get a team over the 8-8 hump of mediocrity.

But until the reality that we could very well do worse is acknowledged, we're gonna continue to have these debates. And frankly if you read the columnists who are worth reading like Sturm, you'll see him indicate that there is good and bad. The militant anti-Garrett "worst coach ever" nonsense is fan anger hyperbole and it's no more credible than the hyperbole that is homerism.

We need a new coach but it needs to be the right one or we'll be no better off or very possibly worse.

As for your point about Reid, I did say that I would fire Garrett for Reid last year. The volume of my stance on that is completely irrelevant and the fact that you are trying to read into it and decipher ulterior motives is conspiracy theory bullshit and proof of your irrationality.

You say this quite often. So I'm curious... Do you think it's Jerry's influence or presence that causes Garrett to abandon the run game? How about calling timeouts at inopportune times, or not calling them at all when needed? Maybe Jerry is responsible for Garrett having no feel for the ebb and flow of a game, and how to adjust? Surely, Jerry is at fault for Garrett not knowing whether or not he should challenge a play?

I'm sure there are far more instances of sideline fuckups that Jerry is responsible for... That sonofabitch.

He might be better at that than other coaches anywhere else. We don't know. He certainly doesn't have the balls to confront Jerry in order to hold players accountable, so the crap he preaches is just noise in Valley Ranch.
 
Nodak, naming a bunch of Garrett failings that I've already agreed he has, and agreed that he needs to be replaced for, does what for your argument exactly?

We do know he's better because of how dramatically it changed after Wade left

But still not good enough.
