Ware Watch 2014

Are we going to have any dead money due to the Ware contract next year? He's not designated as a post-June 1st cut so I would think not...

No. Cutting him like this gets us free and clear of his contract.

I'd prefer he go to Denver than a team like the Eagles.

I don't care where he goes. If he goes to Philly and sacks Romo a billion gazillion times, won't bug me. It is what it is.

If he plays like he did last season I'd love for him to end up in Philly.

I'd like to see him somewhere he can win a ring so Denver fits that bill, of course he likely would never play against us if he went there either.

Austin would be a decent replacement for Decker in Den too.

They have no reason not to leverage the cap like crazy to try to make it back to the Bowl.

Same here.

I don't give a shit where he goes not do I care if he wins a ring. I don't get this idea that he deserves better either.

He was one hell of a talent here, but he was a softie with no leadership ability and he contributed to this team's lack of toughness.

He can go and win a ring or go 0-16 and I wouldn't care either way.

A lot of Eagles fans are salivating over the possibility of getting him. Probably true of 30 other NFL cities too.

He's not really the Eagles type of signing though. They don't like to upset their salary cap chemistry. And they don't like to pay age. I would be pretty surprised if the Eagles signed him.

A funny aside: a lot of Eagles fans and media have been saying if they signed Ware he'd be angry and playing with a chip on his shoulder against the Cowboys twice a year. I'm thinking, you don't know Ware. :lol At all. He's simply not the type that plays pissed off.

He doesn't have to be a difference maker in Den, which is not what I said or implied at all. He wouldn't have to be anyways, just a fit for both team and player IMO.

Ware would likely rebound in Denver

SAN ANTONIO – If DeMarcus Ware signs with the Denver Broncos, chances are a Mile High he’ll bounce back big time next season.

With Von Miller rushing opposite of him and with the high-scoring, Peyton Manning led Broncos offense piling up points that force opponents to abandon the run and throw the ball, how couldn’t he?

Ware is set to visit Denver on Wednesday, and the Broncos are reportedly “confident” they can land him just one day after he was cut by the Cowboys.

In Denver, Ware will be surrounded by something he didn’t have in Dallas: talent. When Ware recorded a career-low six sacks last season, Hall of Fame pass rusher Ricky Jackson told me he believed that was what was holding Ware back.

“He’s had nagging injuries, but from watching him, he’s still got the burst,” Jackson said. “What’s different is what’s around him. They need their cornerbacks to step up and also have the other (pass rushers) get off the ball. Their secondary is terrible, the worst in football. Everyone can throw the ball on them. They can’t cover. They can’t press. They’re terrible.”

Jackson, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010, had three double-digit sack seasons in his 30s.

“You got to look at what I had around me,” he said in a phone interview. “When I (had 91/2 sacks in 1995 at age 37), I had Bryant Young and Dana Stubblefield beside me, Ken Norton Jr. at linebacker and Deion Sanders, Eric Davis and Merton Hanks in the secondary. And when I was in New Orleans, I had Sam Mills and Pat Swilling beside me at linebacker.”

Ware would rebound in Denver because they would use him in a rotation, he'd be opposite an elite rusher in Miller and they'd usually be in the lead, often times a double digit lead.

Schmitty told me that this has no impact on a pass rusher. Silly Jackson.

Also at the rate that Manning works the other team would have more possessions which means more opportunities to rush the passer. Ware isn't used to be taken off the field though. I wouldn't be surprised to see him have another 6 sack year where ever he goes. I think a player like him may struggle to maintain his intensity if he is being pulled off the field.
