The real trouble is that once people get elected through fraud, the person who aided in the fraud is now in a position of power. That power than makes sure that future fraud on their behalf or their parties behalf isn't investigated, caught or whatever. And so what you have is a takeover essentially. You win by fraud but then you retain power and control by making sure that your fraud goes unchecked.
