It matters if you want to watch live TV.

Yesterday after the channels disappeared from YTTV I logged into my ESPN+ account to try to watch SportsCenter and it wouldn't allow me to because I didn't have a valid TV provider.

That sounds about right. And any blowback is going to be directed to YouTube TV because it just looks like they're being unreasonable and people just want their content but logically they're going to want to keep costs down. The networks care far less about that because people aren't paying them directly so they don't see what they're charging.

If YouTube TV accepts higher rates from the networks and that therefore means they have to raise their prices, it's YouTube TV that people will be mad at, not the networks. Even though it might be the network's fault that's not what people see.

Any way they can get away with screwing you, they will.
 
I finally gave up on all this streaming this, streaming that bullshit and bought a vSeebox about a month ago. Just plug it in and go. Bigger up front cost of about 350 bucks or so, but then there is no monthly charge. And you can watch EVERYTHING. You can get pretty much any channel you could think of. It's a small box that plugs into your TV with an HDMI cord. That's it. The only other cord is the electrical cord to plug it in. It runs wirelessly with your internet. When you first plug it in, you will have to take a few minutes to let it update, then after that it turns on instantly when you power it up. Comes with it's own remote.

The way I figure, even if they eventually outlaw this thing, as long as I have it for 3 months it will have paid for itself.

Did I mention you can watch anything? Even being up here in the middle of Montana, I have had no problem with watching Cowboys or Sixers games. You can even chose which market you want to watch the game on. Don't want to listen to that annoying bitch that does Sixers games? No problem. Just watch the game with the opponents announcers. Yeah, I know that can be annoying too. But that chick that does Sixers games is really, REALLY annoying. Her voice is like grinding crushed glass into your ears.

The only drawback I've found so far is that if you want to watch TV in multiple rooms, you'd need multiple boxes. But like I said, it's only an HDMI cord and electrical cord. Takes only seconds to move it from one room to another if you so choose.

Can't see what you linked. But anyway, I bought it from my brother in law. He knows a guy that sells them a couple towns over and my BIL has been using one for the last 6 months and has always told us he loves it. So I finally decided to give it a try. He's a Mariners fan and was able to watch games from the Seattle feed all the time.

I tried to get a full refund but I was stuck talking to some Pakistani, whose English was fucking horrible. He was trying to tell me he had added ESPN and added an extra week of service, whatever tf that’s supposed to mean. He didn’t do either, so I disputed the charge to my credit card company. They can kiss my ass.

I plan on getting one of these as a Christmas present to myself.

I was visiting my family in North Carolina a couple of weeks ago and my uncle uses these vSeeboxes in his home. After a weekend enjoying every movie and live sporting event imaginable, I was sold.

You connect your interwebs and it works or do you have to do anything else?

The first time you plug it in, it asks you to connect with your internet. Once you do, you'll have to do 5-10 minutes of updates and that's it. Every time you turn it on after that, it's connected and ready to roll.

The home screen is a few different station blocks you choose from. It doesn't really say what they are, so you'll have to explore a bit. (some are leaning more towards sport stations, some are news, some movies, etc...) But once you figure that out, it's a breeze. Then once you are in there, there is a menu on the left side that you hit the "ok" button to bring up. Inside that, there are choices (NFL, NBA, MLB, etc...) the main screen will populate with those channels. Or you can search key words to bring up what you want specifically. You can also populate your 'favorites' with channels and bring those up automatically.

I've only been using this for about a month, and really haven't experienced really bad weather yet, but have noticed zero buffering so far.

I have no idea. I'm sure they'll eventually either ban this, or find a way to charge monthly for it. But like I said earlier, I've had this for around a month. If they don't ban it over the next two months, I'll have got my money's worth. Anything after that is gravy.
