The Work Thread..

Got a new employee for a bit and just noticed that on his car he is sporting both a Philadelphia Eagles and a University of Texas sticker. Plus is a Yankees fan.

Im not sure that he is going to like it here.

I kid.

Give him a horns down, a finger up for being a Yankees fan and then punch him square in the throat for being an Eagles fan. He should settle in nicely at that point.

So as you are so fabulously aware it is pride month and now from corporate, we are to have mandatory celebrations.

I have exactly, to my knowledge, about a dozen of 1000 associates in my building that are openly gay.

So I followed the playbook. I brought some of them in a room and asked how they would like to celebrate this month. The ones that spoke were pretty adamant that having a celebration was stupid.

I will follow the voice of the people and just say we plan to celebrate.

I am most likely going to sign a $40,000 policy either tomorrow or the next day. It's a commercial auto policy. It will be a $1200 commission on top of the policy bonus of $200. I have spent about 4 hours total working on underwriting back and forth then selling it to the customer. Lot of legwork up front, but I will take $350/hour all day long.

I also sold a policy to an older black man today. But, I would have enjoyed the shit out of that conversation if I sold anything or not. He was a really nice guy. Took him a while to figure out how to send a pic of a title so I could get the VIN off of it, but a very enjoyable phone call. But, he said I was a good man, so maybe he was senile. :unsure

Why does it matter that he was black?

Huh? Huh?

Because older black men are funny, and if he hadn't been a black man the phone call wouldn't have been nearly as enjoyable. Made my day.

So…you think older black men are funny?

Funny how? They amuse you?

Tell us how they are funny!
