The Work Thread..

In the WTF department.

I have been in my current position since October last year. We have a general manager who is nominally my boss and the Assistant GM who is technically on par with me but acts as my supervisor. The AGM and I get along great and I love what I do.

In September the GM decides to shit all over my performance review. I don’t agree with it but I try working with him to fix the issue.

Today I was terminated for not performing work up to the expected standard. The AGM doesn’t agree with it and the reasoning I was given was bullshit.

I will write the board of directors a letter letting them know my thoughts but that won’t change anything. Pisses me off because I liked my job and I was never given any real feedback on anything to improve on. Plus of course it being this time of year. My vacation time payout and small severance will keep me comfortable for the next couple months but I really wasn’t looking forward to job searching again. FML

Sorry man.

I am going to be hiring former NFL player (and Cowboy) Jakar Hamilton to work in my facility.

Kind of weird he would take a job doing this kind of labor, but he has to work.

In case y'all forgot about him...

I sit next to a guy at work who frequently comes to work with pretty bad body odor. He's a bigger guy too and to make matters worse he raises his arms to stretch a lot throughout the day which puts even more of the funk in the air.

I'm seriously considering snitching to management.

Any of you HR guys ever have to deal with employees with poor hygiene?

All the fucking time, dude.

Mike Williams, the former WR who recently died, was working as a construction worker at the time of his accident.

I have an employee that I had to tell to take showers. It wasnt easy but the office that we are in is small and there is three of us there during the day. Plus my supervisor noticed it so I had to do something. I just worded it like I thought it was just him not washing his uniforms (which I knew he wasnt faithfully) and reminded him that the department had a cleaning service. Its been better since so I think he got the hint.

Yeah, it is amazing what happens to these athletes.

You would think they have generational wealth handed to them and really what happens is that they are broke because of poor life decisions.

This is the third former Cowboy I have employed. Now, the other two were camp bodies.

This one had a full NFL season in. But of course, no pension because he did not qualify.

It will be interesting to hear Jakar's story. I met him today, very respectful and humble.

The only thing that was Cowboys related when he departed after his tour was that he did not like Jerry Jones.

True story, scouts honor.

That is a big problem.

Some folks don't wash their asses and they don't wash their clothes on top of it.

Some folks don't clean their pits and then they wear their shirts several times over.

I have so many questions for this kid.

1) What was that fucking red-headed asshole Garrett like as a coach?

2) How about Romo?

3) OMG, Marinelli.

He did got popped for a 4-game suspension, at the same time as Orlando Scandrick got busted.

I feel ashamed that I don't recall him all that much.

Although it is not technically against policy, he is also directly related to my GM's wife.

Which adds some risk. Not by policy, but optics.
