I just said that to my wife. It's a win win situation. Either they let him in and he starts destroying the women physically, or they don't let him in and they have to publicly admit they aren't going to let a trans person in their league, despite their bluster.

After she got destroyed by the #200 men's player in the world. Here's another interesting story I had forgotten about:

Artie Lange (Howard Stern Show sidekick/comedian) didn’t “beat” a woman basketball player—he lost to one in a hyped 2003 one-on-one challenge.


On The Howard Stern Show, Lange (then ~5'9", overweight, mid-30s) boasted he could beat any woman, including a sixth woman from a WNBA team, basically because “she’s a girl.” Marissa Graby (sometimes called “Marissa the Gravy Train” in the bit), a 6'2", 175-lb former Penn State captain from their 2000 Final Four team (and 1996 high-school standout), heard about it, called in, and challenged him. They played at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for $10,000 (sponsored/related to the show/E! coverage).


Key details of the game​


  • Rules were basically first to 15 (win by 2), with outside shots sometimes treated as 2 points early on.
  • Lange started hot, hitting a string of deep shots/“prayers” and building a big lead (around 12-5 at one point). Graby said he amazed even himself.
  • He played very physical—“clobbering”/“hammering” her in the lane, bumping hard, with few/no fouls called. She later noted the contact and that he was fouling heavily as he got tired.
  • Graby rallied hard (including some gamesmanship like yanking at his pants on a shot). She closed it out 16-14 with a jumper from the foul line area. Lange was exhausted by the end (jokes about oxygen, etc.).
