The Ultimate Warrior (James Hellwig) dead at 54

Damn, that's crazy.

Also, this was easily my most favorite wrestling moment as a kid. I went nuts after this match:

Yup. Had a sleepover with my best friend where we watched that. Huge memory from my child hood, we were so amped that day at school.

He was a genuinely terrible wrestler. His entire gimmick was being muscle bound, overly enthusiastic and incomprehensible on the mic. In short, filled with testosterone.

Have any details come out? Suicide would seem likely, considering the timing.

Yeah.... he collapsed on the way to his car, with his wife there. So not a suicide.

I think suicide would have come out by now. Probably just a massive coronary.

That's good, when Benoit went crazy there was a few days where the details were slow in coming. This caused a Raw devoted to his memory followed by WWE disavowing his memory.

You know, I wondered at the time why he never ran out to the stage during this hall of fame and wrestlemania stuff. Makes sense that maybe he knew he had a serious heart condition.
